How to obtain a special flight permit?

Special flight permits are commonly designated for alternative types of flights such as State, Humanitarian, Military, and Hospital missions. Documentation requirements vary by country, ranging from formal paperwork to simple verification of the trip’s purpose.

We facilitate the process by submitting all aircraft documentation and requisite supporting evidence to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to certify the intended nature of the trip.

What are the permit requirements?

We will need the flight schedule and aircraft documents (Certificate of Registration, Certificate of Airworthiness, Noise Certification, and Insurance).

If operating in Mexico, to get approval for landing they are asking now for LOPA (Layout of Passenger Accommodations) and the Insurance should be specific for Mexico.

Can you fly over any country?

Yes, it’s possible to fly over the airspace of any country during a flight. While it’s technically feasible to overfly any country, obtaining the necessary permits to do so can sometimes be challenging due to political factors.

For instance, if the aircraft’s route involves flying over Country B, but either the point of departure or the last country flown over before reaching Country B is Country A, it can create complications. This situation may lead to permit rejections because of political tensions or diplomatic issues between Country A and Country B.

What is an overflight exemption?

The Border Overflight Exemption enables General Aviation Aircraft to bypass the first designated Airport of Entry upon arrival in the USA. It’s imperative to have a copy on board for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspection upon arrival.
