Cairo to Riyadh
Private Jet Charter
Cairo to Riyadh is about two hours in the air, 870 nautical miles from Sphinx to King Khalid International, on a light, midsize or super-midsize jet. Riyadh is the business capital of the Gulf and this is the sector the boards, the banks and the ministries fly between the two largest Arab economies. You land an hour later on the clock in winter, the same in summer.

The route
Why fly private from Cairo to Riyadh?
Cairo to Riyadh is the government-and-boardroom sector on our desk: 870 nautical miles, about two hours in the air, and a landing at an airport with two of the longest runways in the region and no slot to fight for. Banking, construction, energy and the ministries fly it every week, in both directions, and the same-day return is a common shape.
Why private works here
Leave Sphinx, 35 minutes from downtown Cairo, and land at King Khalid with the car at the aircraft and the 35 kilometre drive into the city ahead of you. No airline check-in at either end, the delegation works through the flight, and a morning departure from Cairo is in a Riyadh meeting after lunch with the aircraft waiting to bring you home.
Aircraft fit
At this distance a light jet flies it nonstop with six or seven aboard and carry-on baggage. A midsize jet carries eight with full luggage and a stand-up cabin. A super-midsize jet takes eight or nine faster and quieter with a proper galley, and is the usual choice for a delegation working on the way. Heavy jets fly it with the most room and are what the Riyadh business market expects on a formal visit.
Advisor note
Riyadh has no slot and no prior permission at the airport, so the trip is governed entirely by the GACA landing permit through our agents in the Kingdom. The thing we plan on the ground is heat: the field sits at 2,049 feet and summer afternoons pass 45 degrees, so a fully loaded departure in August is calculated for the morning, not assumed from the runway length.
Icarus Jet charter deskCost
What determines the cost of a Cairo to Riyadh private jet charter?
A two-hour international sector is priced on the aircraft, the trip shape, the permits and the dates. These are the things that move the number on Cairo to Riyadh.
Aircraft class
Light, midsize and super-midsize jets all fly it nonstop. The cabin you choose is the biggest single swing in the quote, and for a delegation working on the way the super-midsize is usually worth the difference.
Round trip or two one-ways
A same-day return keeps the aircraft and crew with you in Riyadh. A stay of several nights is often better as two one-way flights. The desk prices both and tells you which is cleaner.
Two permits
Departure needs the Egyptian permit, planned at four business days. Arrival needs the Saudi GACA landing permit through approved local agents, where the completeness of the file sets the turnaround. We file both on every trip.
Onward legs in the Kingdom
Since May 2025 foreign operators may fly charter between Saudi cities, so Riyadh to Jeddah, Dammam or NEOM on the same aircraft is now a simple leg rather than an exception. The desk prices the itinerary as one.
The season
October to April is the season for business travel to Riyadh, with the big conference weeks the tightest for aircraft out of Cairo. Those dates need firm bookings a couple of weeks ahead.
What the number covers
We tell you what the quote covers before you book and we hold the operator to the number we gave you. No surprises on the invoice is the point of using the desk.

Eight passengers with full luggage, a stand-up cabin and an enclosed lavatory. Comfortable in both directions.
Challenger 350 and Gulfstream G280 class

Before you fly
What should I know before flying Cairo to Riyadh?
It is an international flight, so bring passports for everyone aboard. The desk files the crew and passenger details with the Egyptian permit and confirms each passenger's entry requirements for Saudi Arabia before departure. Customs is cleared at the aircraft at both ends. Saudi entry is by visa, and the desk confirms the right one is in place before it files the permit.
King Khalid International is the arrival. Two parallel runways of 13,796 feet at 2,049 feet elevation with Category 9 fire cover, about 35 kilometres north of the city. No airport slot, no prior permission, handling arranged on every flight. Three FBOs serve private aircraft, Jet Aviation, ExecuJet and Saudi Private Aviation, each with parking, fuel and maintenance for any cabin class, and the airport keeps a separate royal terminal for the royal family. King Salman International is due to absorb it with operations targeted for 2029.
Heat is the operating fact. Riyadh summer afternoons routinely exceed 45 degrees, and at 2,049 feet that puts density altitude well above the field. The runways absorb a great deal, but a heavy departure at maximum weight in August is calculated properly and scheduled for the morning.
On the Cairo side, Sphinx is the better private airport for most trips. A single 11,975 foot runway west of the city in Giza, open 24 hours with customs on site, no airport slot, no airline queue, about 35 minutes from downtown and materially cheaper to operate into. Cairo International in Heliopolis earns its place when you are connecting onto a scheduled flight, when the destination is the east of the city, or when the aircraft might need maintenance support, which Sphinx cannot provide. It is slot coordinated with mandatory handling, so the permit, slot and handling are filed together.
You lose an hour in winter. Saudi Arabia is on Arabia Standard Time all year, an hour ahead of Egypt in winter and the same clock in summer. A 9 am departure from Sphinx is on the ground in Riyadh around 12:15 local in winter.
When to go
When is the best time to fly Cairo to Riyadh?
October to April is the season, when Riyadh is comfortable on the ground and the business calendar is full. The big conference weeks are the tightest for aircraft out of Cairo and need firm dates a couple of weeks ahead. Allow the permit lead times on any first trip.
Summer is quiet, very hot and easy to book. Departures are planned for the morning for the density altitude, and a few days of notice is normal from Cairo once the Saudi permit is in hand.

Questions
Cairo to Riyadh private jet questions
How long is a private jet flight from Cairo to Riyadh?
About 1 hour 55 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes in the air. The sector is 870 nautical miles from Sphinx to King Khalid International. A super-midsize jet is at the quick end and a light jet at the slower end.
How far is Cairo from Riyadh by air?
870 nautical miles, about 1001 statute miles, between Sphinx and King Khalid International. Saudi Arabia is an hour ahead of Egypt in winter and on the same clock in summer.
Which Cairo airport do private jets use for Riyadh?
Sphinx, west of the city in Giza, for most trips: no slot, no airline queue, about 35 minutes from downtown and cheaper to operate into. Cairo International in Heliopolis when you are connecting from a scheduled flight or the destination is the east of the city.
Can private jets land at Riyadh?
Yes. King Khalid International has two parallel 13,796 foot runways, Category 9 fire cover, no airport slot and no prior permission. The approval that governs the trip is the Saudi GACA landing permit, obtained through approved local agents, which we file on every flight. Jet Aviation, ExecuJet and Saudi Private Aviation run the FBOs, with parking, fuel and maintenance on the field.
Which aircraft is best for Cairo to Riyadh?
A light jet such as a Citation CJ or Phenom 300 for six or seven on a day trip. A midsize jet such as a Citation XLS or Hawker 800 for eight with luggage. A super-midsize jet such as a Challenger 350 or Gulfstream G280 for eight or nine working on the way. Larger delegations go on a heavy jet.
What permits does a Cairo to Riyadh private flight need?
The Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority permit for the departure, planned at four business days, and the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation landing permit for the arrival, obtained through approved agents inside the Kingdom. We file both on every trip. Passengers need passports and a Saudi visa.
Does the heat in Riyadh affect the flight?
It affects the departure. The airport sits at 2,049 feet and summer afternoons exceed 45 degrees, which raises density altitude well above the field. The long runways absorb much of it, but a heavy departure in summer is calculated properly and scheduled for the morning.
Can I continue from Riyadh to Jeddah or Dammam on the same aircraft?
Yes. Since 1 May 2025 foreign business and private operators may fly charter between Saudi cities, so an onward leg on the same aircraft is now routine. The desk prices the itinerary as one trip.
What determines the cost of a Cairo to Riyadh private jet?
The aircraft class, whether the trip is a same-day return, a longer stay or two one-way flights, the two permits, handling and parking at Riyadh, and the dates against the October to April season. We tell you what the quote covers before you book.
Can I fly Riyadh to Cairo on the same page?
Yes. The sector is quoted in both directions. Put Riyadh as the departure in the form and the desk handles it the same way, with the Egyptian permit on the Cairo end.
Can I do Cairo to Riyadh and back in a day?
Yes, and it is a common shape. A 7 am departure from Sphinx is in Riyadh around 10:15 local in winter, and an evening departure has you home in Cairo the same night, with the Saudi permit covering both movements.
How much notice do I need to book Cairo to Riyadh?
Allow the permit lead times on a first trip: four business days for Egypt and the Saudi permit filed alongside, historically at least 24 hours. After that a few days is normal, and for the big conference weeks give the desk firm dates a couple of weeks ahead.
