Riyadh to London
Private Jet Charter
Riyadh to London is about six and a half hours in the air, 2675 nautical miles from King Khalid International to Farnborough, on a heavy or ultra-long-range jet. Which London airport you land at decides your drive, your hours and your slot, and the summer, when Riyadh leaves for a cooler city, decides how early to book. You land two hours earlier on the clock in summer, three in winter.

The route
Why fly private from Riyadh to London?
Riyadh to London is the long-haul sector on the Saudi desk: 2675 nautical miles, about six and a half hours in the air, and a landing at one of three London business aviation fields that each suit a different trip. Government, sovereign funds and the families fly it all year; every summer, when the capital empties for a cooler city, London is the first of them and the London field is the constraint, not the aircraft.
Why private works here
The airline version is a Riyadh departure timed by the airline, a Heathrow arrival hall, and a taxi queue. The private version leaves King Khalid without a slot to hold, crosses six and a half hours in a cabin with a bed if you want one, clears UK customs at the aircraft on the GAR the desk filed before you left, and puts you in the car at Farnborough or, inside the M25, at Biggin Hill with its helicopter link to Battersea. With the clock two or three hours behind, a morning departure is a London afternoon.
Aircraft fit
Six and a half hours and 2675 nautical miles put Riyadh to London inside the comfortable range of a heavy jet, and that is what the desk quotes first: Challenger 650 or Gulfstream G450 class, ten to twelve aboard, nonstop both ways with room to sleep on the westbound leg. An ultra-long-range jet, Gulfstream G650 or Global 6000 class, buys a stateroom and the widest cabin for a family summer move, and carries the margin for a heavy departure from Riyadh at 2,049 feet on a hot morning. The super-midsize is a winds-checked quote westbound in winter and usually carries a technical stop in the plan.
Advisor note
London is three business aviation fields and a decision, and from Riyadh the decision is made against the calendar. Farnborough has no slots and one operator, but its airshow takes the field over for about a fortnight in July of even years, which is exactly when Riyadh wants to leave. Luton has the most private movements in London and an enforced Level 3 slot. Biggin Hill has the longest hours and no slots, and wants the figures run for the heaviest jets on a hot day. We put the London field on the quote first, then the aircraft, and file the GAR with whichever permission the field needs.
Icarus Jet charter deskCost
What determines the cost of a Riyadh to London private jet charter?
A six-and-a-half-hour sector is priced on the aircraft, the trip shape, the London field and its fees, the permits and the dates. These are the things that move the number on Riyadh to London.
Aircraft class
Only heavy and ultra-long-range jets are quoted nonstop. Between the two, the stateroom and the width of the ultra-long-range cabin are what you pay for, and on a six-and-a-half-hour overnight westbound they are usually what the family wants.
Round trip or two one-ways
A household moving to London for the summer flies out on one aircraft and home on another weeks later: two one-ways. A week of meetings may hold the aircraft at Farnborough or Biggin Hill, which both have the parking. The desk quotes both shapes.
The London field and its fees
Each London field bills differently: Luton through the airport and several FBOs with penalties for slot misuse, Farnborough as one operator on one invoice, Biggin Hill with handling optional. The field you choose is a line in the number.
Slots, permissions and the GAR
Luton wants an ACL Level 3 slot; Farnborough and Biggin Hill want prior permission from the field. The UK asks no landing permit for most charter flights, but a General Aviation Report goes to Border Force before arrival. The desk files the lot alongside the GACA permit.
The Saudi permit
A foreign-registered aircraft needs the GACA permit, issued through an accredited local agent, typically in 48 to 72 hours, with overflight permits in about 24. GACA works Sunday to Thursday and slows around Hajj, Ramadan and the national holidays. There is no airport slot or PPR at Riyadh. Our Saudi permits guide has the detail; we file it on every trip.
What the number covers
We tell you what the quote covers before you book and we hold the operator to the number we gave you. No surprises on the invoice is the point of using the desk.
Aircraft
Which aircraft flies Riyadh to London?
Only the long-legged end of the Icarus brokered fleet is quoted nonstop on this sector. These are the three quoted most on Riyadh to London.
Challenger 650 and Gulfstream G450 class
Ten to twelve aboard, nonstop each way, with a cabin that converts for sleep on the westbound. The desk's first quote from Riyadh.
Gulfstream G650 and Global 6000 class
Up to fourteen with a private stateroom, the widest cabin and margin to spare: the choice when the household moves to London for the summer.
Gulfstream G280 and Challenger 350 class
Eight or nine aboard. Quoted only once the winds are run, because the winter westbound is at the edge of its range, and often planned with a technical stop.
Larger parties and staff travel on an airliner-cabin aircraft, and the very largest types go to Stansted rather than Luton. See the jets we broker for the full range by cabin class.
Before you fly
What should I know before flying Riyadh to London?
It is an international flight, so bring passports for everyone aboard. The desk files the crew and passenger General Declaration with the permit and confirms each passenger's entry requirements for the United Kingdom before departure. Customs is cleared at the aircraft at both ends. The UK requires no landing permit for most private and charter flights, but a General Aviation Report is filed with Border Force before arrival, and visa-free nationals need an Electronic Travel Authorisation, applied for online and valid two years. The desk files the GAR and confirms which passengers need the ETA or a visa.
Farnborough is the desk's first London quote from Riyadh. No airlines, no slot competition, one operator for permission and handling, and closed for about a fortnight around the airshow in July of even years, which is when the capital most wants to leave; hours, runway and declared takeoff run are on our Farnborough guide.
Luton takes the most private movements in London and polices its slots. ACL Level 3, mandatory handling through several FBOs, night restrictions, and the very largest aircraft sent to Stansted; the detail is on our Luton guide.
Biggin Hill wants the figures run for a heavy summer departure. Large cabin types operate, but the 5,843 foot declared takeoff run is what the desk calculates against on a hot day; it also has the longest hours of the three, no slots, and the helicopter link to Battersea, all on our Biggin Hill guide.
On the Riyadh side, King Khalid International is the departure. Two parallel runways of 13,796 feet at 2,049 feet elevation with Category 9 fire cover, about 35 kilometres north of the city. There is no airport slot and no prior permission; the approval that governs the trip is the GACA permit, and handling is arranged on every flight through the FBOs on the field, Jet Aviation, ExecuJet and Saudi Private Aviation, with a separate royal terminal. Customs runs around the clock. Summer afternoons pass 45 degrees, and at 2,049 feet that puts density altitude well above the field, so a fully loaded departure in August is calculated for the morning. King Salman International is due to absorb the airport, with operations targeted for 2029.
The clock runs back two or three hours. London is three hours behind Riyadh in winter and two in British Summer Time, so a 9 am departure from King Khalid lands at Farnborough in the early afternoon local, well inside the field's hours.
When to go
When is the best time to fly Riyadh to London?
Government and business traffic runs all year. Outside the summer a week is comfortable notice: 48 to 72 hours for the GACA permit through our accredited agent, the London slot or permission and the GAR filed alongside, and the Sunday to Thursday GACA week allowed for. October to April is the pleasant season on the Riyadh end and the quiet one in London.
The summer is when the capital leaves. Heavy jets in the Kingdom, Luton slots and Farnborough permissions tighten together, and in a July of an even year the Farnborough airshow takes that field out for about a fortnight, so Biggin Hill and Luton carry the overflow. Firm dates weeks ahead let the desk lock the aircraft and the field at the same time.

Questions
Riyadh to London private jet questions
How long is a private jet flight from Riyadh to London?
About 6 hours 5 minutes to 6 hours 50 minutes in the air over 2675 nautical miles from King Khalid International to Farnborough, or 2672 to Luton. The ultra-long-range jet is quickest, the heavy jet about six and a half hours, and the westbound leg into the winter wind is the longer of the two.
How far is Riyadh from London by air?
2675 nautical miles, about 3078 statute miles, between King Khalid International and Farnborough. London is three hours behind Riyadh in winter and two in summer, so you land earlier on the clock than the flight time suggests, usually in the early afternoon from a morning departure.
Which London airport do private jets from Riyadh use?
Farnborough first, unless the airshow has it in July of an even year: no airlines, no slots, one operator. Luton for the north of London or the train to St Pancras, with an enforced Level 3 slot. Biggin Hill inside the M25 for a late arrival or the helicopter to Battersea, figures run for a heavy jet.
Which aircraft is best for Riyadh to London?
The heavy jet is the desk's first quote: Challenger 650 or Gulfstream G450 class, ten to twelve aboard, nonstop both ways. For a family summer move with a stateroom, an ultra-long-range jet such as a Gulfstream G650 or Global 6000, up to fourteen with margin to spare. A super-midsize is quoted westbound only after the winds are run.
Can a super-midsize jet fly Riyadh to London nonstop?
Eastbound, usually, with the wind helping. Westbound in winter against the wind with a full cabin, the desk usually plans a technical stop or quotes a heavy jet instead. It checks the winds before it quotes, and it says so on the quote rather than on the day.
Do I need a permit to fly a private jet from Riyadh to London?
The operator does on the Saudi end: a foreign-registered aircraft needs the GACA permit through an accredited local agent, typically in 48 to 72 hours. The UK requires no landing permit for most private and charter flights, but a General Aviation Report must be filed with Border Force before arrival. We file both with the trip.
Do passengers need anything to enter the UK on a private jet?
Passports for everyone aboard. Visa-free nationals need an Electronic Travel Authorisation, applied for online, usually approved in minutes and valid two years, and the operator transmits passenger data ahead of the flight. Other nationalities need a visa. The desk confirms each passenger's requirement before it files the trip.
Which London airports need a slot for a private jet from Riyadh?
Luton: an ACL Level 3 slot, enforced with penalties, so the timings on the quote are the timings you fly. Farnborough and Biggin Hill have no slot but need prior permission from the field, and each keeps its own hours. Whichever the field needs, the desk files it with the GACA permit and the GAR so all three line up.
What determines the cost of a Riyadh to London private jet?
The aircraft class, whether the trip is two one-way flights or a round trip, the London field and its fees, the slot or permission, the GACA permit on the Riyadh end, and the dates against the summer. The desk sets out what the number covers before you book and holds the operator to it.
Can I fly London to Riyadh on the same page?
Yes. Put Farnborough, Luton or Biggin Hill as the departure in the form and the desk quotes the eastbound leg the same way, usually the quicker of the two with the wind behind it, and files the GACA permit for the arrival at King Khalid through our accredited agent, allowing the 48 to 72 hours it typically takes.
What is the time difference between Riyadh and London?
Three hours in winter and two in summer. Riyadh is on Arabia Standard Time, UTC+3, all year with no daylight saving. London is on Greenwich Mean Time in winter and British Summer Time from late March to late October, UTC+0 and UTC+1 respectively.
When is the best time to fly Riyadh to London?
For ease of booking, spring and autumn, when London fields are quiet and Riyadh is still pleasant. Summer is when the capital leaves, so heavy jets, Luton slots and Farnborough permissions are at their tightest, and in a July of an even year the Farnborough airshow closes that field for about a fortnight. The desk needs firm dates weeks ahead.
How much notice do I need to book Riyadh to London?
A week is comfortable outside the summer, allowing 48 to 72 hours for the GACA permit and filing the London slot or permission and the GAR alongside. GACA works Sunday to Thursday, so a Thursday request waits. For the summer, give the desk firm dates weeks ahead so the aircraft and the London field are locked together.
