For Business Aviation operators, security measures at their destination FBO should not be a secondary consideration since it directly affects passenger safety, aircraft protection, crew movement, and schedule reliability.

While many FBO facilities provide apparently similar service offerings, the real differences may become clear in the day-to-day operational execution, access control discipline, and response to higher-risk environments.

For Lee McConnell, Director at private jet operator Ortac, the main concern is whether the FBO has onsite, trained security screening staff, or whether it is third-party or airport staff. “This has a bearing on time and cost for our clients,” he elaborates. “Always, [our] preference is on-site, in-house security staffing.”
