Yes. Sharm El Sheikh is Egypt's third busiest airport, with a 10,108 foot main runway, a second parallel runway, ICAO Category 9 fire cover and full international facilities at the southern tip of the Sinai. The ECAA landing permit applies and handling is available through Egyptian Aviation Services.

04L/22R is 3,081 metres, about 10,108 feet, with a second parallel runway 04R/22L alongside. Field elevation is 143 feet. Fire cover is Category 9. The runway takes the whole of business aviation.

Egypt requires a landing permit from the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority for private and charter flights. We plan on four business days, with registration, airworthiness, insurance, noise certificate, AOC for charter and crew details, and a specific stated purpose of flight rather than "business".

Handling is available through Egyptian Aviation Services, the principal general aviation handler on the Red Sea, and we arrange it regardless. We have not confirmed from an authoritative source whether it is formally mandatory.

They are on opposite sides of the Red Sea and serve different coasts. Sharm for the Sinai: Naama Bay, Ras Mohammed, Dahab and the St Catherine monastery. Hurghada for the mainland coast: El Gouna, Soma Bay, Safaga and the road to Luxor. Choose by destination; the flying time between them is short.

Yes. Sharm receives direct European traffic and a private aircraft can arrive internationally with the permit in hand. Direct flights from some countries have been suspended and restored over the years for security reasons; the current position for your departure country is something we confirm rather than assume.

The resort strip along the southern Sinai coast, the diving of Ras Mohammed and the Straits of Tiran, Dahab to the north, and the St Catherine monastery inland. It has also hosted numerous international summits, which is why a resort airport carries the infrastructure it does.

Close. Naama Bay is about 10 minutes and the main hotel strip 15 to 20 minutes. Dahab is about an hour north.

Yes, repeatedly. The city has hosted international peace summits and the 2022 United Nations climate conference among many others, and the airport handles the government and VIP traffic those bring. That history is part of why its handling and security provision is more developed than a resort of its size would otherwise justify.

The airport began as an Israeli-built airfield during the occupation of the Sinai and passed to Egypt with the 1982 return of the peninsula, opening to civil traffic as the resort developed. Successive terminals followed the tourism boom, and it has been Egypt's third busiest airport for most of the past two decades.
