The route
Why fly private from London to Marbella?
London to Marbella is the Costa del Sol sector on our desk: 891 nautical miles, about two and a quarter hours in the air, and a landing at Malaga with the coast road to Marbella, Puerto Banus, Sotogrande and the golf ahead of you. Marbella has no jet airport of its own, so Malaga is the answer, and it is a good one: long runways, a business aviation terminal and a drive of about 45 minutes.
Why private works here
Leave Farnborough from a terminal built for private passengers and land at Malaga with customs at the aircraft and the car waiting for the coast road. No airline queue at either end, the golf bags travel with you, and the return leaves when the week ends. For a villa full of friends the cost per seat is closer to the airline than most people expect once the wasted hours are counted.
Aircraft fit
Malaga is 891 nautical miles from Farnborough, the longest of the Spanish sectors on the London desk at two and a quarter hours, and golf bags are the luggage question. A light jet flies it nonstop with six or seven aboard and soft bags and is the first quote for a couple or a small group. A midsize jet is the quote for a foursome or a family of eight with clubs and luggage in a stand-up cabin. A super-midsize jet takes eight or nine with the most hold space and lands twenty minutes sooner. The 10,499 foot runway at Malaga takes every class the desk brokers.
Advisor note
Malaga is a busy airline airport with a separate business aviation terminal, and the constraint is the calendar rather than the field. Easter, the summer weekends and the big golf weeks fill the ramp and the villas at the same time. Handling and parking are confirmed before the aircraft leaves London, and the transfer to Marbella is booked with the flight so the car is at the aircraft, not at the far terminal.
Icarus Jet charter deskCost
What determines the cost of a London to Marbella private jet charter?
A two-hour international sector is priced on the aircraft, the trip shape, the handling at Malaga and the dates. These are the things that move the number on London to Marbella.
Aircraft class
Light, midsize and super-midsize jets all reach Malaga nonstop. On two and a quarter hours a golf group of eight with clubs is best value per seat on a midsize; a couple is right on a light jet.
Round trip or two one-ways
A week on the coast is usually two one-way flights. A long weekend can keep the aircraft at Malaga, where parking outside Easter and the summer is usually there. The desk quotes both and says which is cleaner.
Handling and parking at Malaga
Handling through the business aviation terminal is arranged with the trip. Parking tightens at Easter and on the summer weekends, and when the aircraft cannot stay a repositioning leg is priced from the start.
The transfer
Marbella is about 45 minutes along the coast and Sotogrande about an hour. The desk books the car with the flight so it is on the quote rather than a surprise at the terminal.
The London end
Luton and London City need ACL Level 3 slots, enforced with penalties. Farnborough and Biggin Hill need prior permission and keep their own hours. The desk files whichever the field needs with the trip, and picks the field for the address and the aircraft.
What the number covers
We tell you what the quote covers before you book and we hold the operator to the number we gave you. No surprises on the invoice is the point of using the desk.
Aircraft
Which aircraft flies London to Marbella?
Malaga takes every class the desk brokers and the golf bags decide between them. These are the three quoted most on London to Marbella.
Citation CJ and Phenom 300 class
Six or seven with soft bags and about two and a half hours in the air. The first quote for a couple or a small group on the coast.
Citation XLS and Hawker 800 class
Eight with clubs and a week of luggage in the hold, and a cabin to stand up in. The quote for a golf four or a family.
Challenger 350 and Gulfstream G280 class
Eight or nine in the widest cabin with the most hold space, and the quickest to Malaga at about two hours ten.
Larger groups go on a heavy jet into Malaga. See the jets we broker for the full range by cabin class.
Before you fly
What should I know before flying London to Marbella?
It is an international flight, so bring passports for everyone aboard. The desk files the crew and passenger details with the trip and confirms each passenger's entry requirements for Spain before departure. Customs is cleared at the aircraft at both ends.
Malaga is the airport for Marbella. Runways of about 10,499 and 9,022 feet, about eight kilometres south west of Malaga, with a business aviation terminal and customs at the aircraft. Marbella and Puerto Banus are about 45 minutes along the coast, Sotogrande about an hour, and the airport takes any aircraft we broker.
On the London side, the field follows the address and the aircraft. Farnborough, 35 miles south west, is a dedicated business aviation airport with no slots and prior permission from its single operator, closing at 2200 on weekdays and 2000 at weekends. Luton, 30 miles north with rail to St Pancras, handles more private movements than any London airport under an enforced Level 3 slot. Biggin Hill, inside the M25, has no slots, the longest hours and a six-minute helicopter to Battersea. London City, six miles from the Square Mile, takes only steep-approach certified light and midsize types and closes from Saturday lunchtime to Sunday midday.
You lose an hour on the way there. The Costa del Sol is on Central European time, an hour ahead of London on both clocks. A 9 am departure from Farnborough is on the ground at Malaga around 12:20 local and in Marbella for a late lunch.
When to go
When is the best time to fly London to Marbella?
The Costa del Sol flies year round. Easter, the summer weekends from June to September and the big golf weeks are the tightest for aircraft out of London and parking at Malaga, and need firm dates a couple of weeks ahead. Spring and autumn are the easiest and most pleasant weeks to fly it.
Winter is quiet at the airport and mild on the coast, and a few days of notice is comfortable from London once the London slot or permission is filed.

Questions
London to Marbella private jet questions
How long is a private jet flight from London to Marbella?
About 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes in the air. The sector is 891 nautical miles from Farnborough to Malaga, and Marbella is about 45 minutes along the coast from there. Super-midsize jets are quickest at around two hours ten, light jets nearer two hours forty, all nonstop.
Which airport do private jets use for Marbella?
Malaga Costa del Sol. Marbella has no airport that takes jets, and Malaga, about 45 minutes along the coast, has runways of about 10,499 feet, a business aviation terminal and customs at the aircraft. The desk books the car so it is waiting at the aircraft.
How far is London from Marbella by air?
891 nautical miles, about 1025 statute miles, between Farnborough and Malaga. Spain is an hour ahead of London all year, so a two-and-a-quarter-hour flight lands three and a quarter hours later on the local clock. The desk plans about 2.5 hr of block time on this pair; the winds over France and Spain shift it by a few minutes.
Which London airport do private jets use for Marbella?
Farnborough for most Marbella trips, with no slots, a private terminal and 35 miles from the centre. Biggin Hill inside the M25 when golf bags and a late Sunday return make its long hours useful. Luton, with its Level 3 slot, for the north. London City for a certified light or midsize type. The London airport guides carry the rest.
Which aircraft is best for London to Marbella?
A midsize jet, Citation XLS or Hawker 800 class, is the first quote for eight with golf bags and a week of luggage. A light jet, Citation CJ or Phenom 300 class, for a couple or six with soft bags. A super-midsize jet, Challenger 350 or Gulfstream G280 class, for eight or nine in the shortest time.
Can I bring golf bags on the flight?
Yes. A midsize jet carries eight with full luggage and golf bags, and the desk confirms the hold space when it quotes. Sotogrande and the Marbella courses are all within an hour of Malaga.
What determines the cost of a London to Marbella private jet?
The aircraft class, whether the trip is two one-way flights or a round trip, handling and parking at Malaga, the transfer along the coast, the London field and its slot or permission, and the dates against Easter and the summer. We tell you what the quote covers before you book.
Can I fly Marbella to London on the same page?
Yes. The sector is quoted in both directions. Put Malaga as the departure in the form and the desk handles it the same way, with the London slot or permission filed for the arrival.
Is there customs on a London to Marbella private flight?
Yes, it is an international flight. Customs and immigration are cleared at the aircraft at both ends, and the crew checks passports before departure. There is no airline security line.
Can the aircraft stay at Malaga for the weekend?
Usually, yes, and a long weekend on the coast often keeps the aircraft on the Malaga ramp. At Easter and on the summer weekends parking tightens, and if the aircraft cannot stay it repositions and comes back for the pickup, with that leg written into the quote before you book, not discovered at the terminal.
When is the best time to fly to Marbella?
Spring and autumn are the easiest and most pleasant. Easter and the summer weekends are the busiest for aircraft out of London and parking at Malaga. Winter is mild on the coast and quiet at the airport.
How much notice do I need to book London to Marbella?
A few days is comfortable outside the peaks. For Easter, the summer weekends and the big golf weeks, give the desk firm dates a couple of weeks ahead so the aircraft, the handling and the transfer are all confirmed.
