Where can you fly privately from London?

London is the European desk, the base for the Alps, Paris, the Mediterranean and the five-hour run to Cairo. Four fields serve the city and they are not interchangeable: Farnborough for the west and the country, Biggin Hill for the City with a six-minute helicopter to Battersea, Luton for the north under a coordinated slot, and London City for the Square Mile in an aircraft certified for its steep approach. The first decision on every trip is the field, and the desk picks it for the address and the aircraft rather than the habit. What flies from here falls into three kinds of sector: the short business and ski runs to Paris and Geneva, the summer sectors to Nice, Marbella, Mallorca and Ibiza where parking at the far end is confirmed before departure, and the long sector to Cairo with the Egyptian permit filed ahead. Which London airport do private flights use?

Farnborough for the west and the country, Biggin Hill for the City with the six-minute helicopter to Battersea, Luton for the north under a Level 3 slot, and London City for the Square Mile in a steep-approach certified light or midsize jet.

How long are the London sectors?

From about 50 minutes to Paris to about five hours to Cairo. Geneva is about an hour and a half, Nice two, Marbella, Mallorca and Ibiza two to two and a half.

Which aircraft fly from London?

Turboprops and light jets to Paris and Geneva, light and midsize jets to the Mediterranean, super-midsize and heavy jets to Cairo. Every route page names the classes that fit.

Do the London routes need permits?

Cairo needs an Egyptian permit at about four business days. The European sectors need slots, permission or parking approval rather than a national permit, and the desk files whichever the field needs.

What documents do I need after Brexit?

Passports for everyone aboard on every sector. For the return, visa-exempt nationals need the UK Electronic Travel Authorisation, and the desk confirms who needs what before departure.

Does Geneva need a slot?

Yes. Geneva is slot coordinated with prior permission and mandatory handling, departures are curfewed from 2126, and parking over three hours needs approval. The desk files all of it with the trip.

Can I fly London to Ibiza or Mallorca in August?

Yes, with notice. Parking at both islands is the constraint in July and August, and the desk confirms it before the aircraft leaves or prices a repositioning from the start.

Can I do a London to Paris day trip?

Yes, and it is the most flown sector on the London desk. Fifty minutes each way into Le Bourget, with the aircraft waiting and the return timed inside the London field's hours.

How much notice does a London sector need?

A few days for the European sectors once the slot or permission is filed, about four business days for Cairo, and firm dates weeks ahead for the ski weekends, the Mediterranean in August and the Christmas weeks.

Can I fly the reverse direction?

Yes. Every route page covers both directions, and the desk quotes the return sector the same way, choosing the London field for the address. Farnborough serves the west and the country, Biggin Hill the City, Luton the north and London City the Square Mile in a steep-approach certified aircraft. Passports are needed for everyone aboard on every sector.
