Why fly private from Milan to Olbia?
Milan to Olbia is the summer sector on the Milan desk: 273 nautical miles, about an hour in the air, and a landing four kilometres from Olbia with Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo and the beach clubs half an hour up the coast. The Milanese have summered on the Costa Smeralda since it was built, the August airline seats are gone by spring, and the ferry from Genoa takes a night, so the families, the yacht owners meeting their boats and the villa guests fly it, most of them on a Friday evening and a Sunday night.
Why private works here
Twenty minutes after leaving the office you are at Linate's general aviation terminal, and an hour later the car is on the apron at Costa Smeralda, or the helicopter is lifting for the ten minutes to a villa pad or the yacht. It replaces the Malpensa scrum on an August Friday and the overnight ferry from Genoa, and the aircraft goes home when the weekend ends rather than when the airline says. For a jet arriving into Milan from abroad, Olbia is the one-hour last leg on the same file.

Before you fly
What should I know before flying Milan to Olbia?
Milan to Olbia is a domestic flight, so there is no customs. Passports or EU identity cards are checked by the crew at the aircraft, and fifteen minutes before departure at the Linate general aviation terminal is enough.
Costa Smeralda is the arrival, four kilometres from Olbia and half an hour from Porto Cervo; the desk's notes on its summer parking are in airport parking restrictions in Italy.
Linate on the Milan side is the city airport, seven kilometres east with an 8,012 foot runway, slot coordinated and tight on parking in summer. Malpensa, 49 kilometres north west, takes the largest aircraft and is the better field for a start from the lakes.
The last ten minutes. Porto Cervo is half an hour by car from the airport; with the villa's or the marina's approval a helicopter lands at the door or beside the yacht in ten, and the desk adds it to the file.
When to go
When is the best time to fly Milan to Olbia?
The season runs June to September, and the Milan desk flies it every Friday and Sunday. July and August, with Ferragosto in the middle, are when aircraft, Olbia parking and villa helicopters are all short and the dates book weeks ahead; June and September have the same beaches with easier parking and quieter clubs, and the sea is warmest in September.
