Paphos
International Airport
The field for the west of Cyprus: an 8,855 foot runway at sea level four miles from Paphos, an hour from Limassol, customs on the field, no landing permit for private flights, and handling arranged by the desk rather than a dedicated FBO. Larnaca has the FBO and the Beirut alternate role; Paphos is chosen for the address. Our Paphos private jet guide covers the runway, handling, permissions, parking and customs for crews and charter clients.

The Airport
Paphos at a glance
Paphos International Airport carries the ICAO code LCPH and the identifier PFO. A single runway of 8,855 feet at 39 feet elevation on the south west coast, about four miles south east of Paphos, with Limassol about an hour and Larnaca about an hour and a half by road.
It is open with customs and immigration on the field, run by Hermes Airports alongside Larnaca, and no landing permit is needed for private flights. Cyprus is in the European Union but outside Schengen, so every arrival is a passport control.
Facts checked against the Hermes Airports publications for Paphos and Larnaca, plus Icarus Jet operations data.

The Role
The airport for the address
Cyprus has two civil airports and the choice between them is the address. Paphos serves the west: Paphos itself, Coral Bay and the villas up the coast, the Akamas, and Limassol at about an hour, against an hour and a half from Larnaca. It carries close to four million scheduled passengers a year, mostly leisure traffic from the United Kingdom and Europe, and it takes business aircraft on the same terms as Larnaca.
What Paphos does not have is the FBO. Skylink at Larnaca is the only dedicated business aviation facility on the island, so at Paphos the desk appoints one of the airport handling agents and the passengers use the terminal and its lounge. For a trip that is simply a Paphos or Limassol address, that is a fair trade for the hour saved on the road.
Operating
Handling, customs and the runway
No landing permit is needed for private flights. The desk arranges handling and parking with one of the airport agents ahead of arrival, confirms charter authorisations by registration for operators from outside the European Union, and books the fuel with the handling. Customs and immigration are on the field, and because Cyprus is outside Schengen, every arrival is a passport control, including from Athens or Rome.
The runway is 2,700 metres, 8,855 feet, of asphalt concrete at 39 feet elevation, long enough for every business jet and the airline widebodies that use it in summer. Parking is the summer constraint, May to October, when the desk holds a stand with the handling and asks for the dates early. For a Beirut diversion the alternate stays Larnaca, which has the 24 hour FBO and the shorter sector.
History
Built for the west in 1982
Paphos opened in 1982 to give the west of the island its own airport after Larnaca had carried everything since the closure of Nicosia in 1974, and it grew with the resorts along the coast. Hermes Airports took over both Cypriot airports in 2006 and rebuilt the Paphos terminal in 2008.
For business aviation the practical result is a proper runway and customs at the quieter end of the island, and a second option for the summer when the Larnaca ramp is full.

Larnaca is the sister field with the FBO, an hour and a half by road or a few minutes by air. Beirut is about 45 minutes east, Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh an hour to an hour and a half south. Athens is about an hour and a half west with the Greek island sectors beyond it.

Questions
Paphos, answered
Can private jets fly into Paphos?
Yes. Paphos International takes business aircraft of every size on an 8,855 foot runway, with customs and immigration on the field, handling through the airport agents and no landing permit for private flights. It is the field for the west of Cyprus and for Limassol at about an hour.
Paphos or Larnaca for a private jet?
Paphos for Paphos, Coral Bay, the Akamas and Limassol; Larnaca for Larnaca, Nicosia, Ayia Napa and the east, and whenever the dedicated FBO or the Beirut alternate role matters. The desk picks the field for the address and books the handling accordingly.
Is there an FBO at Paphos?
No. Skylink at Larnaca is the only dedicated business aviation facility in Cyprus. At Paphos the desk appoints one of the airport handling agents and the passengers use the terminal lounge; the difference is a fair trade for the hour saved on the road to the west of the island.
Do I need a landing permit for Paphos?
Not for a private flight. Cyprus is in the European Union and private movements need handling and parking arranged rather than a permit. Charter operators from outside the EU may need authorisation, which the desk confirms by registration before it files.
Is Cyprus in Schengen?
No. Cyprus is in the European Union but outside the Schengen area, so every arrival at Paphos is a passport control, including from Athens or Rome, and every departure to a Schengen country is an external flight at the other end.
How long is the runway at Paphos?
Runway 11/29 is 2,700 metres by 45, about 8,855 feet by 148, asphalt concrete, at 39 feet elevation. Nothing in business aviation is limited by it, and the field takes airline widebodies in summer.
Does Paphos need a slot or PPR?
Private movements are arranged through the handling agent, which books the parking with the airport. In the summer peak from May to October the desk asks for the dates early so a stand is held, and confirms the arrangement before the aircraft is positioned.
How far is the airport from Paphos and Limassol?
About four miles south east of Paphos, ten minutes by road. Limassol is about an hour, Coral Bay about 25 minutes, and Larnaca about an hour and a half. The handler arranges the car to the terminal.
Is fuel available at Paphos?
Yes, Jet A-1, arranged with the handling so the departure is not waiting on a truck. The desk prices the tankering question on the Beirut and Egypt sectors both ways.
When is Paphos busiest?
May to October, the leisure season, when the airline traffic peaks and parking on the ramp wants booking early. The winter is quiet and the same runway and customs are there.
Can I use Paphos as the alternate for Beirut?
It works as a second alternate, but the desk files Larnaca: closer to Beirut, 24 hours with the FBO, and no permit for the diversion. Paphos is the address airport rather than the diversion airport.
What time zone is Cyprus in?
Eastern European Time, EET in winter and EEST in summer, UTC+2 and UTC+3. The desk files the handling in UTC and confirms the local times back to you, so the offset never lands on the pickup.
