Yes, with a slot and prior permission, and for no longer than about 40 minutes on the ground in season. Mykonos is one of the most slot-constrained airports in Europe from May to September: general aviation competes with scheduled operators for the same slots, scheduled operations take priority, and the earliest a GA slot can be requested is 14 days before the movement.

A Greek NOTAM limits aircraft to a maximum of about 40 minutes on the ground, usually from 1 May to 30 September and sometimes longer if demand holds. The aircraft lands, disembarks and departs to park elsewhere, almost always Athens. Parking on Mykonos in season is not an option, and a plan that assumes it will fail.

No earlier than 14 days before the movement. That is a hard rule and it removes the usual advantage of booking early. Within that window, the handler's relationship with the coordinator and the completeness of the request matter more than anything else. 16/34 is 1,903 metres, about 6,244 feet, by 148 feet, in asphalt, at 405 feet elevation. The runway suits light, midsize and most super midsize business jets. Large cabin aircraft need the figures run, and the field's exposure to the meltemi wind in summer adds a crosswind consideration.

Yes. The strong northerly summer wind is a feature of the Cyclades and Mykonos is exposed to it. It rarely closes the airport but it does produce crosswind and turbulence on approach, and it is one more reason a Mykonos arrival is briefed carefully rather than assumed routine.

Yes, and the handler is the key to the whole operation: the slot request, the PPR, the 40 minute turnaround and the coordination of the aircraft's onward parking on the mainland all run through them.

For a single arrival, the jet direct to Mykonos with a mainland reposition is usually right. For island hopping or where no slot can be had, a jet to Athens and a helicopter onward is a genuine alternative, and we operate that route regularly.

No separate landing permit for EU and most third-country private and charter operations, but the Level 3 slot and PPR at Mykonos are hard requirements and the handling must be in place. We file everything together and hold Athens as the fallback.

The airport opened in 1971 as a domestic field serving the island's growing tourist traffic, and grew with it into an international airport receiving direct European flights in summer. The runway and apron have been extended, but the island's terrain caps what the field can ever become, which is why the slot and parking regime is as tight as it is.
