Every midsize jet in our guides has a stand-up cabin: 5 feet 8 inches in the Citation Sovereign, 5 feet 8.5 inches in the Learjet 60XR, 5 feet 9 inches in the Hawker 800XP and 6 feet in the Citation Latitude and Legacy 450. The Latitude and the Legacy 450 add flat floors, 6 feet 5 inches and 6 feet 10 inches wide, so passengers move about the cabin upright rather than along a dropped aisle.
Published ranges run from 2,405 NM (Learjet 60XR with four passengers) to 2,904 NM (Legacy 450 with four passengers at long-range cruise), with the Hawker 800XP at 2,540 NM, the Citation Latitude at 2,700 NM and the original Citation Sovereign at 2,847 NM on full fuel with NBAA IFR reserves. Typical layouts seat six or seven in the Learjet 60XR, seven in the Legacy 450, eight in the Hawker 800XP and nine in the Latitude and Sovereign.
Baggage separates the models more than range does. The Legacy 450 carries 150 cubic feet, the Sovereign 135 and the Latitude 127, while the Hawker 800XP carries 49.5 cubic feet and the Learjet 60XR 48. All of the Hawker's baggage sits inside the pressurised cabin and is reachable in flight, whereas the Latitude's tailcone compartment and the Sovereign's 100 cubic foot heated hold are not. Takeoff distances run from 3,580 feet (Latitude) to 5,450 feet (Learjet 60XR), so the airport can decide the model as much as the party does.
Stand-up cabins, two of them flat floor
Heights of 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet across the class, with flat floors in the Citation Latitude and Legacy 450. The Legacy 450 is the widest at 6 feet 10 inches and carries full fly-by-wire flight controls, rare in this size of jet.
Range beyond the light class
From 2,405 NM to 2,904 NM with four passengers on the models that publish that basis, against the 2,010 NM that tops the light jets. The Learjet 60XR is certified to 51,000 feet and climbs to 41,000 feet in about 18.5 minutes after a maximum-weight takeoff.
Baggage for a real trip
Up to 150 cubic feet in the Legacy 450, including a 35 cubic foot closet reachable in flight, and 135 cubic feet in the Sovereign with a 100 cubic foot heated tailcone hold. Tell the desk about skis and golf bags when you enquire, because the hold is planned before an aircraft is offered.

How far can a midsize jet fly nonstop?
The class publishes 2,405 to 2,904 NM. The Learjet 60XR flies 2,405 NM, the Hawker 800XP 2,540 NM and the Citation Latitude 2,700 NM, each with four passengers, and the Legacy 450 2,904 NM with four at long-range cruise. The original Citation Sovereign publishes 2,847 NM on full fuel with NBAA IFR reserves. A full cabin and a headwind both shorten those, which is why the desk plans on your real load.
How many passengers does a midsize jet seat?
Typical layouts seat six or seven in the Learjet 60XR, seven in the Legacy 450, eight in the Hawker 800XP and nine in the Citation Latitude and Sovereign. The Hawker's certified maximum of 15 is an exit limit, not an executive interior. Most published ranges assume four passengers, so the desk re-runs the numbers for a full cabin.
Can you stand up in a midsize jet?
Yes, in all five. Cabin heights are 5 feet 8 inches in the Sovereign, 5 feet 8.5 inches in the Learjet 60XR, 5 feet 9 inches in the Hawker 800XP and 6 feet in the Citation Latitude and Legacy 450. The Latitude and Legacy 450 also have flat floors; the Sovereign does not.
How much luggage fits?
The Legacy 450 carries 150 cubic feet, the Sovereign 135, the Latitude 127, the Hawker 800XP 49.5 and the Learjet 60XR 48. The Latitude's tailcone compartment and the Sovereign's 100 cubic foot hold are behind the pressure bulkhead and not reachable in flight, while all of the Hawker 800XP's baggage rides inside the cabin. The Legacy 450 keeps a 35 cubic foot closet reachable in flight.
How much runway does a midsize jet need?
At maximum weight, sea level, published figures are 3,580 feet (Latitude balanced field length), 3,640 feet (Sovereign), 3,907 feet (Legacy 450), 5,032 feet (Hawker 800XP) and 5,450 feet (Learjet 60XR). High and hot fields change the answer sharply: the Hawker 800XP needs about 8,800 feet at a 5,000 foot elevation airport at ISA plus 20C. The desk checks airport suitability for the specific aircraft before it quotes.
Is there a proper lavatory?
Yes, aft in all five. The Legacy 450's is fully enclosed with a vacuum toilet, the Latitude and Sovereign use sliding divider doors with a sink and vanity, the Learjet 60XR has a full-width private lavatory, and the Hawker 800XP a full-size private one. Some aircraft have a belted lavatory seat, which counts as an extra occupant.
How many pilots fly a midsize jet?
All five types are certified with a minimum crew of two pilots. Cabin crew are a separate question that depends on the operator and the trip. The operator, with its audit status, is named on your quote.

Published cruise figures are 446 knots (Citation Latitude), 447 knots (Hawker 800XP at high-speed cruise), 453 knots (Learjet 60XR typical cruise), 458 knots (original Citation Sovereign) and 462 knots (Legacy 450 at high-speed cruise). The Learjet 60XR is certified to 51,000 feet, the Sovereign to 47,000 feet and the Hawker 800XP to 41,000 feet.
When should I choose midsize over light?
When the party wants to stand, the bags go beyond the 84 cubic feet a light jet offers, or the sector runs past the 2,010 NM that tops the light class. A midsize jet covers all three. If distance alone is the issue and the party is small, the Phenom 300E at 2,010 NM may still be the right tool.
How does the desk pick between them?
Range on your real passenger load comes first, then baggage and whether you need it in flight, then the runways at both ends. Long sectors with full luggage point to the Legacy 450 or the Latitude, parties who want every bag in the cabin to the Hawker 800XP, and six or fewer with light bags and long runways to the Learjet 60XR.
