Nonstop where other classes need a fuel stop
The four ultra long range jets in our guides publish 5,950 NM (Falcon 7X at Mach 0.80), 6,000 NM (Global 6000 at Mach 0.85), 6,750 NM (Gulfstream G550 at Mach 0.80) and 7,000 NM (Gulfstream G650 at Mach 0.85). Every one of those figures is quoted with eight passengers and three or four crew aboard on NBAA IFR reserves, which puts them well beyond the 4,750 NM that tops the large cabin class.
Cabins are 6 feet 2 inches tall in the Global 6000, G550 and Falcon 7X and 6 feet 5 inches in the G650, which is also the widest at 8 feet 6 inches. Cabin lengths run from 39 feet 1 inch in the Falcon 7X to 43 feet 3 inches in the Global 6000, 43 feet 11 inches in the G550 and 46 feet 10 inches in the G650, excluding baggage. That length is laid out in zones: three on the Global 6000 and Falcon 7X, up to four living areas on the G550 and G650, with the Global's private aft stateroom and en-suite lavatory and a second lavatory forward.
Baggage runs from 140 cubic feet in the Falcon 7X to 170 in the G550 and 195 in the Global 6000 and G650, and the Global's compartment is accessible in flight with no altitude or time restrictions. All four types are certified to 51,000 feet. Takeoff distances at maximum weight, sea level, run from 5,710 feet (Falcon 7X) through 5,858 feet (G650) and 5,910 feet (G550) to 6,476 feet (Global 6000).
Range quoted with eight aboard
Each manufacturer publishes its range with eight passengers: 5,950 NM on the Falcon 7X, 6,000 NM on the Global 6000, 6,750 NM on the G550 and 7,000 NM on the G650. The G650ER extends that to 7,500 NM at Mach 0.85 on the same cabin.
Cabins laid out for sleeping and working
Gulfstream offered G550 layouts with up to four living areas, sleeping up to eight, and the Global 6000 has a three-zone cabin with a private aft stateroom and en-suite lavatory. Both put a full-size galley in the plan, forward or aft.
Altitude and cabin pressure
All four are certified to 51,000 feet, above most airline traffic. At 41,000 feet the G650 cabin is pressurised to 3,290 feet, and Aviation Week reports cabin altitudes of 4,000 to 5,000 feet on the Falcon 7X.

The Falcon 7X publishes 5,950 NM at Mach 0.80, the Global 6000 6,000 NM at Mach 0.85, the G550 6,750 NM at Mach 0.80 and the G650 7,000 NM at Mach 0.85, all with eight passengers and NBAA IFR reserves. The G650ER extends the G650 figure to 7,500 NM. Winds, weight and the routing decide the real number, and the desk plans each sector against them.
How many passengers can these jets carry?
Up to 19 on all four, which is the certified maximum rather than a charter layout; the Global 6000's standard configuration is 13. Every published range assumes eight passengers, so eight is the load the desk plans the longest sectors around, and a fuller cabin is re-checked before an aircraft is offered.
Can you stand up and walk between zones?
Yes. Cabin heights are 6 feet 2 inches in the Global 6000, G550 and Falcon 7X and 6 feet 5 inches in the G650, and cabin lengths run from 39 feet 1 inch to 46 feet 10 inches. The Global 6000 and Falcon 7X have three cabin zones and the Gulfstreams up to four living areas.
How much luggage fits?
The Global 6000 and G650 carry 195 cubic feet, the G550 170 and the Falcon 7X 140. On the Global 6000 the compartment is accessible in flight with no altitude or time restrictions. In-flight access on the Gulfstreams and the Falcon 7X is not stated in the sources we use, so the desk confirms it for the specific aircraft.
Can you sleep on board?
On these types, yes, depending on the interior. Gulfstream offered G550 layouts sleeping up to eight, and the Global 6000 has a private aft stateroom with its own en-suite lavatory. Tell the desk how many people need to sleep and it matches the floor plan of the actual aircraft, not just the model.
How many crew fly a long sector?
Each type is certified with a minimum crew of two pilots, but the published ranges assume more: four crew on the Global 6000, G550 and G650 and three on the Falcon 7X. Cabin crew and, on the longest sectors, relief pilots are the operator's call, and the desk confirms the crewing before the quote goes out.
How much runway do they need?
Published takeoff distances at maximum weight, sea level, standard day are 5,710 feet for the Falcon 7X, 5,858 feet for the G650, 5,910 feet for the G550 and 6,476 feet for the Global 6000. Landing distances are shorter: 2,070 feet for the Falcon 7X at typical landing weight and 2,207 feet for the Global 6000. The desk checks airport suitability for the specific aircraft.
How fast are they?
The G650 has a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90 and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925. The Global 6000 cruises at Mach 0.85, about 487 knots, with a maximum of Mach 0.89, and the G550 has a high-speed cruise of Mach 0.85. The Falcon 7X cruises at Mach 0.80 with a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.90.
What makes the Falcon 7X different?
It is a trijet, powered by three Pratt and Whitney Canada PW307A engines, and it was the first business jet with digital fly-by-wire flight controls and sidesticks. It publishes 5,950 NM with eight passengers, carries 140 cubic feet of baggage and lands in 2,070 feet at typical landing weight.
