The Gulfstream G550 is an ultra long range jet for sectors measured in time zones rather than hours. Gulfstream publishes a range of 6,750 NM at Mach 0.80 with eight passengers and four crew, which puts London to Hong Kong and London to Tokyo inside a single flight.
The cabin is six feet two inches tall and seven feet four inches wide, and Gulfstream offered it with up to four living areas, layouts that sleep up to eight and a full-size galley placed forward or aft. Behind the cabin sits a 170 cubic foot baggage compartment.
It flies on two Rolls-Royce BR710 C4-11 engines and its design team was awarded the Robert J. Collier Trophy. Gulfstream built it for 18 years, with the final commercial G550 delivered on 30 June 2021, so every G550 flying today was built inside that run.
