The route

Why fly private from Dubai to London?

Dubai to London is the long-haul sector on our desk: 2978 nautical miles, about seven hours in the air, and a landing at one of four London fields that each suit a different trip. Business flies it all year; every summer, when Dubai empties for a cooler city, it becomes the most requested private sector out of the Gulf and the London slots are the constraint, not the aircraft.

Why private works here

Leave Al Maktoum with no slot to hold and land at Farnborough, an airport built for private passengers and nothing else, or at Biggin Hill inside the M25 with a six-minute helicopter to Battersea. Seven hours in a cabin you chose, with a bed if you want one, and the car at the aircraft at the London end instead of an hour of Heathrow. The return leaves when the summer ends.

Aircraft fit

Seven hours and 2978 nautical miles westbound means the aircraft is chosen for range first and sleep second. The heavy jet, Challenger 650 or Gulfstream G450 class, is the desk's first quote: ten to twelve aboard, nonstop in both directions, and a cabin you can lie flat in. The ultra-long-range jet, Gulfstream G650 or Global 6000 class, is the summer-move answer, with a stateroom, the widest cabin and margin to spare. Super-midsize jets are quoted only with the winds run, because the winter jet stream can put Farnborough just out of reach nonstop. Nothing smaller is quoted nonstop.

Advisor note

London is four airports and a slot. Farnborough has no slots and does one thing well. Luton has the most private movements in London and a Level 3 slot with penalties behind it. Biggin Hill has the longest hours and no slots. London City is six miles from the Square Mile and takes only steep-approach certified aircraft, which rules out the heavy end of the fleet that this sector needs. We put the airport on the quote before the aircraft, because in July the airport is the harder thing to get.

Cost

What determines the cost of a Dubai to London private jet charter?

A seven-hour sector is priced on the aircraft, the trip shape, the London field and its fees, and the dates. These are the things that move the number on Dubai to London.

01

Aircraft class

Heavy and ultra-long-range jets fly it nonstop. The cabin you choose is the biggest single swing in the quote, and on a seven-hour sector the bedroom and the width of an ultra-long-range cabin often earn their price.

02

Round trip or two one-ways

A summer in London is two one-way flights. A week of meetings may keep the aircraft, and Farnborough and Biggin Hill both have the ramp for it. The desk quotes both and tells you which is the cleaner number.

03

The London field and its fees

Luton landing, parking and handling fees are the highest of the four and are enforced with penalties. Farnborough is a single operator with a single bill. Biggin Hill keeps handling optional and rates competitive. The field moves the number.

04

Slots, permissions and permits

Luton and London City need ACL Level 3 slots. Farnborough and Biggin Hill need prior permission. Departing from Dubai International needs a slot of its own. We file all of it with the trip.

05

The season

The summer exodus from Dubai, from late June to early September, is the tightest period of the year for heavy jets out of the Gulf and slots into London. Those dates need firm bookings weeks ahead.

06

What the number covers

We tell you what the quote covers before you book and we hold the operator to the number we gave you. No surprises on the invoice is the point of using the desk.

Before you fly

What should I know before flying Dubai to London?

It is an international flight, so bring passports for everyone aboard. The desk files the crew and passenger details with the permits and confirms each passenger's entry requirements for the United Kingdom before departure. Customs is cleared at the aircraft at both ends.

Farnborough is the default for most trips. A business aviation airport with no airlines and no slot competition, 35 miles south west of the centre, closing at 2200 on weekdays and 2000 at weekends, which matters when seven hours from Dubai lands you in the evening; runway, operator and hours are on our Farnborough guide.

Luton is the enforced one. ACL Level 3 slot coordinated, mandatory handling, night restrictions and penalties of up to 20,000 pounds for slot misuse, 30 miles north with rail to St Pancras; the slot goes in with the trip, and the detail is on our Luton guide.

Biggin Hill is for the late arrival. Inside the M25, no slots, the longest weekday hours of any London business field at 0630 to 2300, and a six-minute scheduled helicopter to Battersea; the desk confirms the type against the runway, which is on our Biggin Hill guide.

Stansted is the field for the largest aircraft. Open 24 hours with a 10,003 foot runway and the ramp for airliner-cabin and ultra-long-range types, about 35 miles north east of the centre. Most London fields close overnight, so Stansted and Luton are the two that take a late arrival from the Gulf.

London City is for the aircraft that can use it. Six miles from the City, a 5.5 degree approach and a 3,934 foot takeoff run mean only steep-approach certified types, mostly light and midsize, and it closes from Saturday lunchtime to Sunday midday. It rarely suits a nonstop from Dubai.

On the Dubai side, Al Maktoum is the business aviation answer for most departures. A 14,764 foot main runway, FBOs on the field, 24-hour operation under a facilitation regime rather than a hard slot, and the ramp space to keep an aircraft between legs. Dubai International is right when you are connecting from a scheduled flight or the private terminal there suits the trip; it is IATA Level 3 slot coordinated with mandatory handling, so the slot is filed with the trip and the timings you give the desk are the timings you fly.

You gain hours on the way there. Dubai is on Gulf Standard Time all year and London is four hours behind in winter and three in summer. A 9 am departure from Al Maktoum is on the ground at Farnborough around 1 pm local in summer, with the afternoon ahead of you.

When to go

When is the best time to fly Dubai to London?

Business flies year round and outside the summer a week of notice is comfortable, with the London slot or permission filed alongside the trip. Spring and autumn are the easiest weeks to land where you want.

The summer exodus is different. From late June to early September Dubai leaves for cooler cities and London is the first of them, so heavy jets out of the Gulf, Luton slots and Farnborough permissions all tighten at once. For those dates, give the desk firm dates weeks ahead so the aircraft and the London field are both confirmed.

Questions

Dubai to London private jet questions

How long is a private jet flight from Dubai to London?

About 6 hours 45 minutes to 7 hours 30 minutes in the air. The sector is 2978 nautical miles from Al Maktoum to Farnborough and 2970 to Luton. An ultra-long-range jet is at the quick end; the westbound leg runs into the wind and is the longer one, especially in winter.

How far is Dubai from London by air?

2978 nautical miles, about 3427 statute miles, between Al Maktoum and Farnborough. London is four hours behind Dubai in winter and three in summer, so you land earlier on the clock than the flight time suggests.

Which London airport do private jets from Dubai use?

Farnborough for most trips: a dedicated business aviation airport with no slots, 35 miles south west of the centre. Luton for the north and for rail into St Pancras, with a Level 3 slot. Biggin Hill inside the M25 for late arrivals and the helicopter to Battersea. London City only for certified light and midsize types, which rarely suits this sector.

Which Dubai airport do private jets use for London?

Al Maktoum for a seven-hour departure: 24 hours, FBOs on the field, ramp space for a heavy jet, and no hard slot to hold against a London slot at the other end. Dubai International when you are connecting from a scheduled flight; then two coordinated slots, Dubai Level 3 and Luton or London City, are filed together with the trip.

Which aircraft is best for Dubai to London?

A heavy jet such as a Challenger 650 or Gulfstream G450 for ten to twelve, nonstop both ways and the usual answer. An ultra-long-range jet such as a Gulfstream G650 or Global 6000 for up to fourteen with a stateroom and margin to spare. Super-midsize jets are at the edge of range westbound and are quoted with the winds checked.

Can a super-midsize jet fly Dubai to London nonstop?

Sometimes. Eastbound with the wind behind it, yes. Westbound in winter against the jet stream with a full cabin, the desk usually plans a technical stop or quotes a heavy jet instead. It checks the winds before it quotes.

Do I need a slot to land in London?

At Luton and London City, yes: ACL Level 3 slots, enforced with penalties. At Farnborough and Biggin Hill, no slot but prior permission. The desk files whichever the field needs with the trip.

What determines the cost of a Dubai to London private jet?

The aircraft class, whether the trip is two one-way flights or a round trip, the London field and its fees, the slots and permissions, and the dates against the summer exodus. The number and what it covers are on the quote before you book.

Can I fly London to Dubai on the same page?

Yes. Put Farnborough, Luton or Biggin Hill as the departure in the form and the desk quotes the eastbound leg the same way. With the wind behind it that leg is usually the quicker one, and it lands you in Dubai three or four hours later on the clock than the flight time alone.

What is the time difference between Dubai and London?

Four hours in winter and three in summer. Dubai is on Gulf Standard Time, UTC+4, all year. London is UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer.

When is the best time to fly Dubai to London?

Spring and autumn are the easiest to book. Late June to early September is the summer exodus from Dubai, when heavy jets and London slots are at their tightest and the desk needs firm dates weeks ahead.

How much notice do I need to book Dubai to London?

A week is comfortable outside the summer, with the London slot or permission filed alongside the trip. For the summer exodus, give the desk firm dates weeks ahead so the aircraft and the London field are both confirmed. With the London slot or permission already in hand, the desk can have an aircraft off Dubai within about four hours of the call.
