The route

Why fly private from Dubai to Kuwait?

Dubai to Kuwait is the northern Gulf sector on our desk: 461 nautical miles, a little over an hour up the coast, and a landing at Kuwait International about 16 kilometres from the city. Banking, the sovereign fund, oil services and the family businesses that run between the two cities fly it every week, and most of them are home the same evening.

Why private works here

Kuwait International is close to the city, about twenty minutes, which is what makes the day trip work. Leave Al Maktoum with no slot to hold, clear customs at the aircraft on arrival, and an 8 am departure from Dubai is in a Kuwait City meeting before 9:30 with the aircraft waiting to bring you home. The airline alternative gives you the same hour in the air wrapped in a morning at Dubai International.

Aircraft fit

461 nautical miles up the Gulf is an hour and a half in a light jet with six or seven aboard, and for the two or three people who usually make this trip the Citation CJ or Phenom 300 is the class the desk quotes first. The midsize adds a stand-up cabin and room for eight with checked luggage, which matters for a stay rather than a day. The super-midsize is the answer when a board or a fund delegation wants a galley and a quiet cabin to prepare in on the way up; a heavy jet is reserved for the formal visit.

Advisor note

Kuwait is a straightforward airport with runways for anything we broker and a ramp that is rarely tight. Kuwait requires a landing permit for a non-scheduled flight, and we file it with the trip. On a business sector flown this often, the file is a routine, and the only thing that changes the plan is the summer: a Kuwait afternoon in July is as hot as anywhere we fly, and a heavy departure is scheduled for the morning.

Cost

What determines the cost of a Dubai to Kuwait private jet charter?

A sector this short is priced on the aircraft, the shape of the day, the Kuwait permit and how long the aircraft waits. These are the things that move the number on Dubai to Kuwait.

01

Aircraft class

Light, midsize and super-midsize all do it in one hop, so the choice is cabin, not range. With two or three aboard the light jet is the sensible number; a delegation of eight with bags or a group that wants a galley moves the quote up a class.

02

Round trip or two one-ways

Most Kuwait trips are a same-day return with the aircraft and crew waiting at the airport. A stay of a few nights is often cleaner as two one-way flights. The desk prices both and says which is the better number for your dates.

03

The Kuwait permit

Kuwait requires a landing permit for a non-scheduled flight and the desk files it with the trip. It is routine on a sector flown this often.

04

Waiting time

On a day trip the aircraft waits in Kuwait and the quote covers the crew day and the parking. Tell the desk the meeting times and it plans the day around them.

05

The Dubai end

Departing from Al Maktoum needs no hard slot and the aircraft can wait on the ramp between legs. Departing from Dubai International needs a Level 3 slot, filed with the trip and enforced. The desk chooses the field for the timings and the aircraft.

06

What the number covers

We tell you what the quote covers before you book and we hold the operator to the number we gave you. No surprises on the invoice is the point of using the desk.

Before you fly

What should I know before flying Dubai to Kuwait?

It is an international flight, so bring passports for everyone aboard. The desk files the crew and passenger details with the permits and confirms each passenger's entry requirements for Kuwait before departure. Customs is cleared at the aircraft at both ends.

Kuwait International is the arrival. Runways of about 11,483 feet that take any aircraft we broker, about 16 kilometres south of Kuwait City, with customs at the aircraft and handling arranged with the permit. The city and the business district are about twenty minutes by road.

On the Dubai side, Al Maktoum is the business aviation answer for most departures. A 14,764 foot main runway, FBOs on the field, 24-hour operation under a facilitation regime rather than a hard slot, and the ramp space to keep an aircraft between legs. Dubai International is right when you are connecting from a scheduled flight or the private terminal there suits the trip; it is IATA Level 3 slot coordinated with mandatory handling, so the slot is filed with the trip and the timings you give the desk are the timings you fly.

Kuwait is an hour behind. Arabia Standard Time runs an hour behind Gulf Standard Time all year, so an 8 am departure from Al Maktoum is on the ground in Kuwait around 8:20 local, which is why the day trip is the usual shape.

When to go

When is the best time to fly Dubai to Kuwait?

October to April is the season, when Kuwait is comfortable on the ground and the business calendar is full. The Eid holidays and the big conference weeks are the tightest for aircraft out of Dubai and need firm dates a week or two ahead.

Summer is quiet, extremely hot and easy to book. Heavy departures are planned for the morning, and a day or two of notice is normal from Dubai once the Kuwait permit is filed.
