Dubai to Maldives
Private Jet Charter
Dubai to the Maldives is about four hours in the air, 1642 nautical miles from Al Maktoum across the Arabian Sea to Velana International at Male, on a super-midsize or heavy jet. The resort is a seaplane or a speedboat from there, and the desk books that leg with the flight. You land an hour later on the clock.

The route
Why fly private from Dubai to the Maldives?
Dubai to the Maldives is the holiday sector on the Gulf desk: 1642 nautical miles, about four hours across the Arabian Sea, and a landing at Velana International on the island next to Male, where the seaplanes to the resorts are based. Dubai is the natural connection for the Maldives from Europe and the Gulf, and flying the last leg privately turns an airline day with a wait at Male into an afternoon on the water.
Why private works here
Leave Al Maktoum with no slot to hold, land at Velana with customs at the aircraft, and step onto the seaplane or the speedboat the desk has booked to meet you. No queue at Male, no waiting for the resort transfer to fill, and the family travels together with the luggage it wants. For the return, the aircraft positions in for the day you leave and you are back in Dubai for dinner.
Aircraft fit
At this distance a super-midsize jet is the sensible floor: eight or nine passengers, nonstop with margin over water, and the galley for a four-hour sector. Heavy jets fly it with the most room and are the usual choice for a family with holiday luggage. Midsize jets are at the edge of range over the sea and are rarely the right money. Nothing lighter is quoted on this sector.
Advisor note
The Maldives is two flights, and the second one is the one people forget. Velana is a proper international airport with a runway for anything we broker; the resort is somewhere else, reached by seaplane in daylight or by speedboat. We book that leg with the jet, time the arrival for the seaplane window, and confirm the Maldives permit and the handling before the aircraft leaves Dubai.

What determines the cost of a Dubai to Maldives private jet charter?
A four-hour international sector is priced on the aircraft, the trip shape, the permit and handling, the transfer and the dates. These are the things that move the number on Dubai to the Maldives.
Aircraft class
Super-midsize and heavy jets fly it nonstop. The cabin you choose is the biggest single swing in the quote, and for a family with holiday luggage the heavy jet usually earns its price.
Two one-ways, usually
A week in the Maldives is almost always two one-way flights rather than an aircraft waiting at Male. The desk prices the positioning into the quote so the number you see is the number you pay.
Permit and handling
The Maldives landing permit and the handling at Velana are arranged by the desk and filed with the trip. A Dubai International slot applies only if you depart from there rather than Al Maktoum.
The resort transfer
Seaplanes fly in daylight and speedboats run to the nearer atolls. The desk books the transfer with the jet and times the arrival for it, so the transfer is on the quote rather than a surprise at Male.
The season
November to April is the dry season and the peak, with the Christmas and New Year weeks the tightest of the year for aircraft out of Dubai and seaplane seats at Male. Those dates need firm bookings weeks ahead.
What the number covers
We tell you what the quote covers before you book and we hold the operator to the number we gave you. No surprises on the invoice is the point of using the desk.
Aircraft
Which aircraft flies Dubai to the Maldives?
The longer half of the Icarus brokered fleet flies this sector. These are the three quoted most on Dubai to the Maldives.
Challenger 350 and Gulfstream G280 class
Eight or nine passengers, nonstop with margin over water, and a proper galley for a four-hour sector.
Challenger 650 and Gulfstream G450 class
Ten to twelve passengers with room for a family, its holiday luggage and a rest on the way. The usual choice for the Christmas weeks.
Gulfstream G650 and Global 6000 class
Up to fourteen in the widest cabin, for a larger party or a trip continuing beyond the Maldives.
The resort leg is a seaplane or speedboat booked by the desk. See the jets we broker for the full range by cabin class.
Before you fly
What should I know before flying Dubai to the Maldives?
It is an international flight, so bring passports for everyone aboard. The desk files the crew and passenger details with the permits and confirms each passenger's entry requirements for the Maldives before departure. Customs is cleared at the aircraft at both ends.
Velana International is the arrival. It sits on Hulhule island next to Male, with a new 11,155 foot runway opened in 2022 that takes any aircraft we broker, and it is the base for the seaplane fleet that serves the resorts. Customs is cleared at the aircraft and the transfer leaves from the same island.
The resort is a second leg. Seaplanes fly to the outer atolls in daylight only, so a jet arrival is timed for the seaplane window; speedboats serve the resorts near Male at any hour. The desk books the transfer with the flight and tells you which one your resort uses.
On the Dubai side, Al Maktoum is the business aviation answer for most departures. A 14,764 foot main runway, FBOs on the field, 24-hour operation under a facilitation regime rather than a hard slot, and the ramp space to keep an aircraft between legs. Dubai International is right when you are connecting from a scheduled flight or the private terminal there suits the trip; it is IATA Level 3 slot coordinated with mandatory handling, so the slot is filed with the trip and the timings you give the desk are the timings you fly.
You lose an hour on the way there. The Maldives is on UTC+5, an hour ahead of Dubai all year. A 7 am departure from Al Maktoum is on the ground at Male around noon local, inside the seaplane window with the afternoon on the water.
When to go
When is the best time to fly Dubai to the Maldives?
November to April is the dry season and the peak, with the Christmas and New Year weeks the tightest of the year for aircraft out of Dubai and for seaplane seats at Male. For those dates, give the desk firm dates weeks ahead so the jet, the permit and the transfer are all confirmed.
May to October is the wetter season, quieter and easier to book. A week of notice is comfortable from Dubai once the Maldives permit is in hand, and the seaplane window still sets the arrival time.

How long is a private jet flight from Dubai to the Maldives?
About 3 hours 50 minutes to 4 hours 20 minutes in the air. The sector is 1642 nautical miles from Al Maktoum to Velana International at Male. An ultra-long-range jet is at the quick end and a super-midsize jet at the slower end; both fly it nonstop.

The desk plans the sector at about 4 hr of block time on the aircraft classes it quotes for this pair, and the routing and the winds on the day move that by a few minutes either way. Send the dates and the passenger count and the desk quotes the leg with the airport pair that suits the address at both ends.
Which airport do private jets use in the Maldives?
Velana International on Hulhule island next to Male, with an 11,155 foot runway opened in 2022 that takes any aircraft we broker. It is also the base for the seaplanes that serve the resorts, so the transfer leaves from the same island.

Can a midsize jet fly Dubai to the Maldives?
It is at the edge of its range over water and is rarely the right money. The desk quotes super-midsize and larger on this sector.

What determines the cost of a Dubai to Maldives private jet?
The aircraft class, the positioning for two one-way flights, the permit and handling at Male, the seaplane or speedboat transfer, and the dates against the November to April peak. We tell you what the quote covers before you book.
Can I fly the Maldives to Dubai on the same page?
Yes. The sector is quoted in both directions. Put Male as the departure in the form and the desk handles it the same way, with the aircraft positioning in for the day you leave.
