Cabin Crew on a Helicopter Charter: When You Get One
Normally, aircraft with 50 passenger seats are served by a single flight attendant. However, catering passenger requests for stewards/stewardesses is also possible on helicopter charters. Special demands for cabin crew can only be entertained before signing off the flight.

The guide
Do helicopter charters have cabin crew?
It depends entirely on the type of helicopter(link to the type of helicopter FAQ) you have rented. Light Piston Engines like the Robinson R22 does not have enough room for a flight attendant. A Robinson R44 can be perfect for an airy and luxurious wedding proposal. It can seat a pilot and a couple with their single crew member.

Questions
Crew questions the desk gets
Do helicopter charters come with cabin crew?
Usually not. In the size range used for island and city transfers the pilot is the only crew member, and the sectors are short enough that cabin service is not part of the product. Cabin crew can occasionally be arranged on larger types as a specific request.
Who looks after passengers during the flight?
The pilot briefs you before departure and the ground handler or the operator's representative handles boarding, luggage and any assistance at each end. On a twenty minute island transfer that covers what a cabin crew member would otherwise do.
Can I request catering on a helicopter?
On most island types there is neither the space nor the time for it. Water is usually provided. If catering matters, it is better arranged at the departure or arrival point than on board, and the desk can organise that with the handler.
Does a crew member count against the passenger seats?
Yes, and against the payload as well. Adding a crew member to a small helicopter removes a passenger seat and its weight allowance, which on a full aircraft is the reason the answer is usually no.
Can someone travel with a passenger who needs assistance?
Yes, and it should be raised at booking. A companion counts as a passenger, and if a wheelchair or mobility equipment is involved that is both a weight and a loading question, so the operator needs to know before the aircraft is assigned.
Are there different rules on larger helicopters?
Yes. Larger twin-engine types used for corporate and offshore work can carry a cabin attendant and sometimes do, particularly on longer sectors. It is a different class of operation from the island transfer market and it is priced accordingly.
