Athens to Mykonos is 73 nautical miles and a helicopter sector by nature: about 50 minutes, the coast of Attica dropping away within minutes and the Cyclades underneath until the island, on a crossing exposed to the meltemi in high summer. The party is usually a couple or four friends with a suitcase each, so the H130 with four seats and four bags is the first quote; a twin-engine H145 or AW109 takes six to eight with more luggage and two engines for the water. A King Air or light jet only enters the quote when the group outgrows the helicopter, and then it is a forty-minute drop at the airport under a slot requested 14 days out, with the aircraft flying back to Athens.

What determines the cost of an Athens to Mykonos helicopter charter?

Single-engine or twin
Mykonos is the shortest Cyclades crossing on the desk, about 50 minutes with the sea of the Cyclades underneath for most of it, and a single-engine H130 with four passengers and four suitcases is quoted first. The slot, the pad and the daylight
The helicopter needs no Mykonos slot, which is the point; only Athens International's Level 3 slot applies at the lift, and Megara needs none by day. The pad is the approval to secure, and Mykonos helicopters fly sunrise to sunset, so a late landing goes to the airport helipad and the beach club waits for the morning.
The season
July and August are the tightest weeks for helicopters out of Athens and helipad approvals on the island. Those dates book four to six weeks ahead; June and September are easier.

Before you fly
What should I know before flying Athens to Mykonos by helicopter?
No customs on the way to the beach. Athens to Mykonos is a domestic flight, so passports or EU ID are checked at the helicopter and nothing else. A jet arriving from abroad clears customs at Athens before the helicopter loads.
Where you land is the plan. Mykonos Airport has a helipad and is the simplest landing. Ornos and Kalo Livadi are the usual island pads, and Scorpios, Nammos and Santanna take helicopters with the venue's approval, which is easier to get if you are a guest. Helicopters on Mykonos fly sunrise to sunset, so an evening arrival is planned for the airport.
On the Athens side, the helicopter lifts from Athens International or from Megara. Athens International is where an arriving jet parks and where most island helicopters load, 20 miles east of the city at Spata, under a Level 3 slot with mandatory handling. Megara, the Army helicopter base west of the city with a civil apron, takes helicopters and light aircraft by day with no permission needed and is the quieter lift for a trip that starts in Athens itself. Tatoi and Elefsis are military fields closed to visiting aircraft, whatever the map suggests.
Four suitcases for four. That is the H130 allowance, and it suits a beach week. A twin-engine carries more, the allowance for the type is stated in the quote, and a jet arriving into Athens with heavy bags can send them on by road and ferry while the helicopter goes straight to the club.
When to go
When is the best time to fly Athens to Mykonos?
May to September is the season. July and August are the tightest weeks of the year for helicopters out of Athens and for helipad approvals at the clubs, and book four to six weeks ahead. June and September give the same island with easier availability and a warmer sea in September.
Outside the season the airport is quiet, the forty-minute limit lifts and a light jet lands and parks like anywhere else, and a few days of notice is comfortable for a helicopter.
