Mykonos to Paros
Helicopter Charter
Mykonos to Paros is about 15 minutes by helicopter, 27 nautical miles from the Mykonos airport pad or a beach club helipad to the quieter neighbour to the south west, with Naousa, Parikia, Golden Beach and its own new airport. Paros to Mykonos is the same sector flown the other way. Helicopters on the islands fly sunrise to sunset and are limited by weight rather than seats, and the desk secures the landing before it quotes. Same time zone at both ends.

The route
Why fly from Mykonos to Paros?
Mykonos to Paros is a 27 nautical mile hop on the Mykonos desk, about 15 minutes by helicopter. Paros is the island people move to when Mykonos gets loud: Naousa's harbour, the Golden Beach where the wind-surfers go, Lefkes in the hills, and a new airport that opened in July 2016 with a 4,593 foot runway, the one island field on this desk that takes a King Air and even a light jet on a lighter load. From Mykonos it is south west across Delos and Rhenia to a villa pad or the airport, and the same aircraft carries on to Antiparos in a few minutes more.
Why the helicopter works here
Lift from Mykonos, from the airport pad where the jet has dropped you or from Ornos, Kalo Livadi or Scorpios with the club's approval, cross Delos and Rhenia and the open water beyond them, and Naousa bay opens on the north coast of Paros. A villa pad near Naousa is the shorter landing; the airport is in the south west of the island, so an airport arrival adds a drive back north to the Naousa villas. The fast ferry covers the same water in about 35 minutes and the conventional ferry in about an hour and a half, into Parikia, ten kilometres by road from Naousa, with the port at Tourlos to reach first on the Mykonos side. The helicopter is 15 minutes pad to pad.
Helicopter or aircraft
A single-engine helicopter carries four with light luggage and is the usual aircraft on a 15 minute hop. A twin-engine takes six to eight and their luggage. Paros is different from its neighbours because the runway is long enough for a King Air, airport to airport with proper luggage, and because the airport is Level 3 slotted, so the desk files a slot for any airport movement, helicopter included. There is no jet fuel on Paros, so a fixed-wing aircraft carries fuel for the round trip or repositions to Mykonos or Athens.
Advisor note
Paros gives the desk two landings with different rules. The airport takes the helicopter and the King Air, but it is slot coordinated, so the movement is filed and confirmed rather than assumed; it has no jet fuel, no customs, handling that is not mandatory and parking that is thin in high summer. A villa pad at Naousa needs nothing but the owner and daylight. For a couple going to a villa the pad is the answer, for a family with bags the King Air into the airport, and for a light jet that cannot park at Mykonos, Paros itself can be the arrival, on a lighter load.
Icarus Jet charter deskCost
What determines the cost of a Mykonos to Paros helicopter charter?
A 15 minute sector is priced on the aircraft, the two landings, the trip shape and the dates. These are the things that move the number on Mykonos to Paros.
Single-engine, twin or King Air
A single-engine helicopter for four is the economical answer on a 15 minute hop. A twin-engine takes six to eight with more bags. A King Air into the 4,593 foot runway carries proper luggage airport to airport, with fuel planned for the round trip because Paros has no jet fuel.
The landings
A villa pad near Naousa needs the owner's approval and sometimes a fee. An airport landing on Paros needs a slot from the coordinator and carries handling, which is not mandatory there but is usually booked. The club pad on Mykonos needs the club. The desk clears every landing before it quotes.
Day trip or one way
A day on Paros keeps the helicopter waiting at the airport or the villa and is priced as the pair of legs, with Antiparos added for a few minutes more if you want the loop. A one-way drop is quoted on its own; Paros to Mykonos back for the jet is the same 15 minutes.
Two slots, one day
The jet's Mykonos slot can only be requested 14 days out with the airlines first, and a Paros airport movement needs its own slot in season. The desk files both with the trip. A villa pad on Paros needs no slot at all, which is one reason the pad is the usual landing in August.

Aircraft
Which aircraft flies Mykonos to Paros?
Three answers cover almost every Mykonos to Paros trip, and the 4,593 foot runway makes the third one real.
Airbus H130 and H125 class
Four passengers with light luggage, the usual aircraft for the 15 minutes south west, from the Mykonos airport pad or a club to a Naousa villa pad or the Paros airport.
Airbus H145, H135 and AW109 class
Six to eight passengers with more luggage and two engines over the open water between Rhenia and the Paros coast, for a family or a group with bags who still want the villa pad rather than the airport.
King Air and Caravan class
Six to eight passengers with proper luggage, airport to airport into the 4,593 ft runway on a filed Paros slot, carrying fuel for the round trip. The Paros field is the one on this desk built for it.

Before you fly
What should I know before flying Mykonos to Paros?
Paros is a domestic arrival, so there is no customs. A passport or an EU identity card is all the crew asks for at the aircraft. Paros airport has no customs of its own, so an international jet clears at Mykonos or Athens before the helicopter leg.
Mykonos Airport is where the jet drops you and leaves. The slot is Level 3 and cannot be asked for more than 14 days ahead, scheduled operators come first, permission and handling are mandatory, and from May to September the jet has forty minutes on the 6,244 foot runway before it must go. The airport helipad, and the club pads at Ornos, Kalo Livadi and Scorpios, are how the passengers carry on.
Paros National Airport is new, small and slotted. A single 4,593 foot runway, 17/35, at 125 feet with Category 6 fire cover, opened in July 2016 in the south west of the island. A Level 3 slot for every movement, handling not mandatory, no customs, no jet fuel and limited parking in high summer. It takes turboprops, helicopters and light jets on a lighter load. A helicopter can land there or at a villa pad near Naousa with the owner's approval, and Antiparos is a five-minute hop across the strait.
Daylight, weight and the Golden Beach wind. Helicopters on the islands fly by daylight only. Luggage is by weight, and the King Air is the answer when the bags do not fit a helicopter. The meltemi that fills the sails at Golden Beach in July and August is the same north wind that makes an afternoon crossing from Mykonos bumpy; the desk books the morning where it can, and the 17/35 runway lies along it.
When to go
When is the best time to fly Mykonos to Paros?
June to September is the season, with July and August the tightest weeks for the Paros airport slot, the Naousa villa pads and the helicopters out of Mykonos. June and September give the same 15 minutes with easier availability and a lighter meltemi, and the wind-surfing crowd at Golden Beach thins with it.
Book four to six weeks ahead for July and August, when the Paros slot and the Mykonos slot both have to be filed and the pads are spoken for. In the shoulder months a few days is comfortable, and outside high summer parking at Paros loosens enough for a light jet to wait there.

Questions
Mykonos to Paros helicopter questions
How long is a helicopter flight from Mykonos to Paros?
About 10 to 20 minutes depending on the helicopter and the wind, and 15 is the usual figure. The sector is 27 nautical miles from the Mykonos airport pad, south west across Delos and Rhenia, to a villa pad near Naousa or the airport in the south west of Paros.
Can I fly Paros to Mykonos on the same page?
Yes. Paros to Mykonos is the same 15 minute sector flown north east, and it is the usual last leg of a Paros week: the jet has a fixed Mykonos slot and forty minutes on the ground, so the helicopter lifts from the villa or the Paros airport and lands on the airport pad with time in hand. The desk quotes it with the outbound or alone.
Which pad on Mykonos does the Paros flight use?
Straight off the jet, the Mykonos Airport helipad, since the aircraft must be gone within forty minutes. Otherwise a club pad, Ornos, Kalo Livadi or Scorpios, with the club's approval, and on a 15 minute hop the south-coast club pads are nearly as close to Paros as the airport is. The desk secures the lift before it quotes.
Where does the helicopter land on Paros?
Either at a villa pad, usually around Naousa on the north coast, with the owner's approval, or at Paros National Airport in the south west of the island on a slot the desk files. Tell the desk where you are staying: a Naousa villa is a long drive from the runway, so the pad is often the better landing.
Can I fly Mykonos to Paros on a King Air instead of a helicopter?
Yes. The 4,593 foot runway takes a King Air on a lighter load, airport to airport, which suits a group with luggage. The desk files the Paros slot, and because there is no jet fuel on Paros the aircraft carries enough for the round trip or repositions to Mykonos or Athens afterwards.
Should the jet land at Paros instead of Mykonos?
Sometimes. Paros takes light jets on a lighter load and has none of the forty-minute rule, so a light jet with a Paros slot can arrive direct and park, though apron space is thin in high summer and there is no jet fuel or customs. A midsize jet lands at Mykonos or Athens and the helicopter does the last leg.
Is the helicopter much faster than the ferry to Paros?
The fast ferry does Mykonos to Paros in about 35 minutes and the conventional ferry in about an hour and a half, into Parikia, which is ten kilometres by road from Naousa, after the drive to Tourlos on the Mykonos side. The helicopter is 15 minutes to a pad at the villa and lifts when you are ready.
Can I continue to Antiparos?
Yes. Antiparos is across a narrow strait from Paros and has no airport; the helicopter lands at a pad with the owner's approval a few minutes after Paros, and the desk quotes it as one more leg of the same flight. Our Mykonos to Antiparos page covers that landing.
Which helicopter is best for Mykonos to Paros?
A single-engine H130 or H125 class for four with light luggage is the usual and economical answer on a 15 minute hop. A twin-engine H145, H135 or AW109 class takes six to eight with more bags and two engines over the open water past Rhenia. For heavy luggage, the King Air into the airport.
Can the helicopter wait on Paros for a day trip?
Yes, inside daylight. A day on Paros from Mykonos is a pair of 15 minute legs, out in the morning to a Naousa pad or the airport, the helicopter waiting or repositioning nearby while you have Naousa, Lefkes or Golden Beach, and back before sunset. Antiparos fits in the same day. The desk prices the pair together.
What determines the cost of a Mykonos to Paros charter?
The aircraft, single-engine, twin or King Air; whether it is a one-way drop or a day with the helicopter waiting; the landings, meaning a villa pad fee or the Paros airport slot and handling, and the club pad on Mykonos; and the dates against July and August. We tell you what the quote covers before you book.
What if I reach Mykonos after the last daylight lift?
No helicopter lifts after sunset on the islands, so the Paros hop waits for the morning. The desk plans around the arrival time: an earlier connection, a night on Mykonos and a morning lift, or a ferry to Parikia while the boats are still sailing. Give the desk the arrival time with the request.
How much luggage can I take to Paros?
Light luggage on a single-engine helicopter, more on a twin-engine, and proper bags on a King Air into the Paros airport. Weight, not bag count, is the limit on a helicopter; send the desk the passenger and bag weights and it confirms what the type carries before you book.
How much notice do I need to book Mykonos to Paros?
Four to six weeks for July and August, when the helicopters out of Mykonos are spoken for, the Naousa pads are booked and both the Mykonos and the Paros slots have to be filed, the Mykonos one no earlier than 14 days out. In June and September a few days is comfortable.
