History of the Rifle Garfield County Regional Airport, Colorado

Rifle Garfield County Regional Airport is a well-established airfield serving the lion’s share of the American general aviation traffic. Night-time aircraft noise restrictions do not apply at this Coloradan airfield which operates all days of the week, at all hours. Recently, the airport received a $59,000 grant from the US Federal Aviation Administration to enhance operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The US armed forces are rumored to conduct military simulations across the airport for war training. These are entirely covert exercises carried out away from the public eye.

Rifle Garfield County Regional Airport Terminals

Located 3 miles off downtown Rifle, visitors primarily use Rifle Garfield Airport to travel to Aspen during the holidays. The airfield is frequently used to host diverted air traffic from Aspen-Pitkin Airport. There is only one terminal on the premises and a single FBO, Atlantic Aviation.
