Parking Restrictions – EDDM, Munich Airport

Jan 13, 2019

Assess it before you attempt it!

Munich is one of the world’s leading cities for trade fairs. Some 40 trade fairs for capital goods, consumer goods and new technologies with more than 30,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries and more than two million visitors from over 200 countries participate in fairs and exhibitions in Munich each year.

Munich / EDDM airport authorities are already expecting busy times for the first quarter of 2019 and proactively initiate their operation contingency plan which is issued almost every year. Airport congestion is expected and all General Aviation flights are subject to special permission for operation during the trade fairs.

Obtaining the necessary PPR does not necessary mean that you are good to go! Refueling will also be problematic since the procedure might not be allowed on the assigned parking stand and repositioning will be necessary causing further delays.

Currently for the first quarter of the year restrictions are applied as follows:

  • January 19-26
  • February 12-18
  • March 11-13

There are a few option around Munich as alternative destination like EDDN, EDMO, ETSI or EDJA. NOTAMS are published accordingly and we strongly recommend checking them before planning your trip.
