About 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 35 minutes in the air over 471 nautical miles from Al Maktoum to King Khalid International. A super-midsize does it in about seventy minutes and a light jet in about an hour and a half, and with Riyadh an hour behind Dubai you land at almost the time you took off.

471 nautical miles, about 542 statute miles, between Al Maktoum and King Khalid International. Saudi Arabia is an hour behind Dubai all year, so you land earlier on the clock than the flight time suggests.

Al Maktoum for the daily business run: 24-hour operation under a facilitation regime, so an 8 am wheels-up needs no slot, and the ramp holds the aircraft for the return. Dubai International when the Riyadh trip starts from a scheduled arrival; its Level 3 slot is filed with the Saudi permit and enforced, so the timings are fixed once given.

No slot and no prior permission. King Khalid International is governed by the Saudi GACA landing permit alone, obtained through approved local agents, a daily routine on the Dubai desk. On the ground, Jet Aviation, ExecuJet and Saudi Private Aviation run the FBOs, with parking, fuel and maintenance for any cabin class, and the airport keeps a separate royal terminal.

For a same-day meeting, a light jet: Citation CJ or Phenom 300 class, six or seven aboard, hand luggage. For a stay, a midsize, Citation XLS or Hawker 800 class, eight with bags. For a delegation working on the way, a super-midsize such as a Challenger 350 or Gulfstream G280. A formal visit goes on a heavy jet.

On the Saudi side, the General Authority of Civil Aviation landing permit through approved agents inside the Kingdom, plus the overflight permit on the way. On the Dubai side, a Level 3 slot only if you leave from Dubai International rather than Al Maktoum. The desk files all of it with the trip; passengers bring passports and a Saudi visa.

Because King Khalid sits at 2,049 feet and summer afternoons exceed 45 degrees, which pushes density altitude above the field. The 13,796 foot runways absorb much of it, but a heavy jet leaving at maximum weight is calculated for the morning rather than assumed, so on a summer day trip the desk checks the return against the temperature before quoting.
