Grand Junction Airport

History of Grand Junction Regional Airport

The Grand Junction Regional Airport was founded in the 1930s as a municipal airfield but later altered its name to show tribute to its original funder. The Walker Field is currently amid reconstruction to remodel its interior. The airport has two runways. It is part of the world’s top 10% of airports due to its perfect on-time performance at the 2019 Grand Junction Airshow. Almost 65% of the air traffic to the Grand Junction Airport is categorized as private jet charters. It is 3 miles away from the Grand Junction business center in Colorado.

Grand Junction Walker Field Terminal

The GJT Airport has one terminal named Walker after its investor. The terminal has three gates, and the waiting area has several shops and eateries. Landing fees and handling are free. De-icing, lavatory, and GPU services are charged separately. A runway replacement project is currently underway at the airfield. The primary FBO on the ground is W Star Aviation. They facilitate several aircraft diverted from Aspen-Pitkin Airport due to unreliable weather in the town.
