Where it fits

The Legacy cabin with the range for the Gulf to London

The Legacy 650 is the Legacy 600 with Rolls-Royce AE3007A2 engines, a higher maximum takeoff weight and more fuel. The first was delivered in November 2010, the upgraded Legacy 650E was introduced in October 2016, and Embraer announced the phase-out of the Legacy 650 in August 2020.

Embraer publishes 3,900 NM at long-range cruise with four passengers and two crew on NBAA IFR reserves with a 200 NM alternate, and gave 3,840 NM with eight passengers when the 650 entered service. The figures on this page are for the 650E, which shares that range. Dubai to London and Riyadh to London both sit inside it.

The cabin is six feet tall and divided into three zones for up to 14 passengers, with up to two lavatories. Behind it, a 240 cubic foot baggage compartment stays pressurized and reachable in flight, with 46 cubic feet of internal storage on top.

Not the aircraft for

Parties of more than 14, or trips where time in the air matters most: Embraer offers up to 14 seats and the maximum operating speed is Mach 0.80. For a faster crossing with more range, the Gulfstream G450 (4,350 NM with eight aboard, Mach 0.85 high-speed cruise) is the better tool.

Missions

What the desk books it for

01

The Gulf to London in one leg

Dubai to London (2,978 NM) and Riyadh to London (2,675 NM) sit inside its published range. The desk plans the headwind and the real passenger load before it quotes.

02

Eight aboard on long sectors

Embraer's 3,840 NM figure with eight passengers means a half-full cabin gives up little range, which suits delegations and family trips on sectors like Dubai to London.

03

Big groups with real luggage

Teams, crews and families of up to 14 with bags that would not fit a smaller hold: 286 cubic feet in total, with the main compartment reachable in flight.

04

Los Angeles to Hawaii

Over 2,200 NM of open water, flown nonstop inside a range figure already calculated on NBAA IFR reserves with a 200 NM alternate.

Where it flies

Routes the desk flies on the Legacy 650

Sectors from our route guides that sit inside the Legacy 650's published range. Each opens to the flight time, the airports at both ends and what to know before you fly.

Cabin and baggage

Three zones and a hold you can reach

The cabin is six feet tall and laid out in three distinct zones for up to 14 passengers. Business Jet Traveler lists its width at 6 feet 11 inches; Embraer's own pages do not give that figure in text, so treat it as a guide.

A full-width lavatory sits at the rear and is serviced from outside, with an optional forward lavatory for up to two in total. The 240 cubic foot baggage compartment is pressurized, ventilated and accessible in flight with no cruise altitude restriction, and 46 cubic feet of internal storage sits inside the cabin.

Golf bags, skis and equipment cases are where this aircraft earns its place. Tell the desk the count when you enquire, because on a long sector the load, as much as the headcount, decides the range plan.

Performance and airports

Runways, climb and the airports it opens

Embraer publishes a takeoff distance of 5,741 feet at maximum weight at sea level on a standard day. Landing distance is 2,842 feet unfactored at maximum landing weight, or 2,346 feet with four passengers and NBAA IFR reserves. It is certified to 41,000 feet, cruises normally at Mach 0.78 and has a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.80.

Embraer offered an optional steep approach capability that allows operations at London City. Not every aircraft carries it, so the desk confirms the specific aircraft and crew are approved before quoting.

At executive airports such as Farnborough and Teterboro, and high fields like Aspen, the desk checks runway length against the weight and temperature of the actual trip before a quote goes out.

Compare the class

Legacy 650 against the other large cabin

How the Legacy 650 lines up against the other large cabin jets we cover. The Falcon 900, G450, Challenger 605 and Falcon 2000 publish longer ranges, and the G450 cruises faster; the Legacy 650's case is 286 cubic feet of baggage and up to 14 seats with the range for the Gulf to London.

Chartering with Icarus Jet

How we charter the Legacy 650

We source Legacy 650s and 650Es from ARGUS-audited and Wyvern-certified operators, and the operator's name and audit status are on the quote. The desk checks range against the real routing and headcount, and baggage against the real party, before it checks availability, so the aircraft offered is one that genuinely fits the trip.

Quotes are all-in and itemised: aircraft and crew, positioning, landing and handling, fuel and taxes, with nothing added after the flight that was not on the page. The number depends on where the nearest suitable aircraft is based, the dates and the airports, which is why we price your actual trip rather than publish a rate.

Questions

Legacy 650 questions the desk gets

How far can a Legacy 650 fly nonstop?

Embraer publishes 3,900 NM at long-range cruise with four passengers and two crew on NBAA IFR reserves with a 200 NM alternate, and 3,840 NM with eight passengers. That covers Dubai to London and Los Angeles to Hawaii. Winds, temperature and weight decide the real figure on the day, and the desk plans each leg against them.

How many passengers does a Legacy 650 seat?

Embraer offered up to 14 seats across three cabin zones, and Business Jet Traveler lists 13 as typical. The desk plans long sectors around the actual headcount rather than the maximum.

Can you stand up in the cabin?

Yes. Embraer describes a six foot stand-up cabin, so most passengers stand upright and move between the three zones.

How much luggage fits on a Legacy 650?

286 cubic feet in total: a 240 cubic foot compartment that is pressurized and reachable in flight with no altitude restriction, plus 46 cubic feet of internal storage. Tell the desk about golf bags, skis or equipment cases when you enquire so the load is planned against range.

What is the difference between the Legacy 650 and the Legacy 650E?

The 650E, introduced in October 2016, added upgraded cabin and avionics features and launched with a 10-year or 10,000 flight hour warranty on systems and components. Embraer's range figure is the same 3,900 NM for both. For most charter trips they do the same job, and the desk will tell you which one is available.

Is the Legacy 650 still in production?

No. Embraer announced the phase-out of the Legacy 650 in August 2020. Aircraft already in service continue to fly with charter operators, and the desk checks the specific aircraft and operator before it quotes.

Can a Legacy 650 fly Dubai to London nonstop?

The sector is 2,978 NM, inside its published range, and takes about 6 hours 45 minutes to 7 hours 30 minutes. Winds and the passenger load still decide the plan, and the desk checks both before it quotes.
