Beechcraft King Air B200 and 350i specifications
Headline figures are for the King Air 350i (Textron, 2015). The B200 carries up to 7 passengers about 1,400 NM on NBAA IFR reserves and takes off in about 2,600 ft.
Where it fits
A twin turboprop that carries people and bags
This guide covers two Beechcraft King Airs. The King Air 350i, built from 2010 until the King Air 360 replaced it, flies 1,535 NM with a pilot and four passengers on NBAA IFR reserves and cruises at up to 312 knots. The B200, built from 1981 to 2008, flies 1,407 NM with four passengers at 289 knots.
Both are certified for single-pilot operation and to 35,000 feet, and both have a cabin 4 feet 9 inches tall and 4 feet 6 inches wide, so passengers sit rather than stand. The 350i is the longer of the two, with a 19 foot 6 inch cabin behind the cockpit and eight seats as standard.
Each carries 55.3 cubic feet of heated, pressurised internal baggage. On the 350i it is reachable in flight, Raisbeck nacelle lockers add 16 cubic feet, and an optional 49 by 52 inch cargo door takes oversized loads.
Anyone who needs to stand, or passengers who want jet speed on longer sectors. At 289 to 312 knots, a King Air takes longer than a light jet over the same distance. For longer legs at jet speed, the Phenom 300 is the better tool.
Missions
What the desk books it for
Short European sectors
Florence to Paris (477 NM) and Zurich to Paris (260 NM) sit well inside the range of either model, with bags reachable in flight on the 350i.
Egypt's long domestic legs
Cairo to Abu Simbel is 465 NM, one leg for a group of up to eight in the 350i's standard double club layout.
East Africa
Nairobi to Dar es Salaam is 363 NM, comfortably inside its range, with permits filed alongside the trip.
Equipment and oversized bags
The 350i offers an optional 49 by 52 inch cargo door for oversized loads, alongside its heated internal hold. The desk confirms whether the specific aircraft has the door.
Where it flies
Routes the desk flies on the King Air
Sectors from our route guides that sit well inside the range of both King Air models with four passengers aboard. Each opens to the flight time, the airports at both ends and what to know before you fly.
Cabin and baggage
A seated cabin, a hold you can reach
Both models have a cabin 4 feet 9 inches tall and 4 feet 6 inches wide. The 350i's is 19 feet 6 inches long excluding the cockpit, with a standard eight-place double club layout and up to nine passengers. The B200's is 16 feet 8 inches including the lavatory and baggage area, with seven passengers as standard.
The 350i has a private aft lavatory with a flushing chemical toilet, and its lavatory seat is belted and certified for takeoff and landing. The B200's lavatory is not confirmed by a primary source, so the desk confirms it on the specific aircraft.
Internal baggage on both is 55.3 cubic feet (550 lb), heated and pressurised; on the 350i it is accessible throughout the flight, and the nacelle lockers add 16 cubic feet (600 lb). Tell the desk about golf bags, skis or equipment cases when you enquire.
Performance and airports
Runways, altitude and the airports it opens
Textron publishes a takeoff field length of 3,300 feet for the 350i at 15,000 lb (commuter category, sea level, standard day) and a landing distance of 2,692 feet. Raytheon's B200 figures are a 2,600 foot takeoff field length at maximum weight and 2,845 feet to land at maximum landing weight. Both are certified to 35,000 feet.
The 350i's PT6A-60A engines produce 1,050 shp each and the B200's PT6A-42s 850 shp. Those figures suit executive airports such as Biggin Hill, Farnborough and Dallas Love Field.
High and hot fields change the answer. At Aspen, the runway length available on the day depends on elevation, temperature and weight, and London City requires a type and crew approved for its steep approach. The desk checks both for the specific aircraft before a quote goes out.

King Air against the other light jets
How the King Air lines up against the other light aircraft we cover. The Phenom 300 flies further and much faster, and the Citation XLS has a stand-up cabin; the King Air's case is a heated hold you can reach in flight on the 350i, an optional cargo door and single-pilot certification, with the Navajo Chieftain as the smaller piston option.

Chartering with Icarus Jet
How we charter the King Air
We source King Air B200s and 350is from ARGUS-audited and Wyvern-certified operators, and the operator's name and audit status are on the quote. The desk checks range, runway and baggage against your real routing and party, and tells you which of the two models is offered, before it checks availability, so the aircraft is one that genuinely fits the trip.
Quotes are all-in and itemised: aircraft and crew, positioning, landing and handling, fuel and taxes, with nothing added after the flight that was not on the page. The figure depends on where the nearest suitable aircraft is based, the dates and the airports, which is why we price your actual trip rather than publish a rate.
Questions
King Air questions the desk gets
How far can a King Air fly nonstop?
Textron publishes 1,535 NM for the King Air 350i at high-speed cruise with a pilot and four passengers on NBAA IFR reserves with a 100 NM alternate. Raytheon's figure for the B200 is 1,407 NM with four passengers on the same reserves. The desk plans each leg against the real load, winds and temperature.
How many passengers does a King Air seat?
The 350i seats up to nine passengers, with eight in the standard double club layout, and the B200 carries seven as standard. Both are certified for single-pilot operation, and the published ranges assume four passengers.
Can you stand up in the cabin?
No. Both models have a cabin 4 feet 9 inches tall and 4 feet 6 inches wide, so passengers sit for the flight. For a stand-up cabin, the desk will quote a Citation XLS alongside it.
How much luggage fits on a King Air?
Both carry 55.3 cubic feet of heated, pressurised internal baggage. On the 350i it is accessible in flight, external nacelle lockers add 16 cubic feet, and an optional 49 by 52 inch cargo door takes oversized loads. Tell the desk what you are bringing so the right aircraft is offered.
What is the difference between the King Air B200 and the 350i?
The 350i has the longer cabin, up to nine passengers, 1,050 shp engines and 1,535 NM of range with four passengers. The B200 carries seven as standard, flies 1,407 NM with four passengers and has a shorter takeoff field length of 2,600 feet. The desk quotes whichever suits the party, the bags and the runway.
Is a turboprop slower than a jet?
Yes. The 350i's maximum cruise is 312 knots and the B200's high-speed cruise is 289 knots at 22,000 feet, where the light jets we cover cruise above 400 knots. Over longer sectors that adds up, so the desk quotes a jet alongside it when time matters.
What replaced the King Air B200 and 350i?
The King Air 360 and 360ER succeeded the 350i, and the B200 was followed by the B200GT and the King Air 250 and 260. The desk will tell you which model is available for your dates.
