Where it fits

A very light jet with seats that flex

The Phenom 100 is Embraer's very light jet, certified for single-pilot operation with up to eight people aboard including the pilot. The figures in this guide are for the current Phenom 100EX, which flies 1,178 NM with four occupants on NBAA IFR reserves; the original Phenom 100 is similar in cabin and slightly shorter in range.

The typical layout is four club seats, with a side-facing seat and a belted lavatory adding seats when the party grows. The cabin is 4 feet 11 inches tall and 5 feet 1 inch wide, so passengers sit rather than stand, and there are 64 cubic feet of baggage and stowage.

Embraer certified the Phenom 100 in December 2008 and has updated it since: the 100E in 2014, the 100EV with Prodigy Touch avionics from 2016, and the 100EX, delivered from December 2023, with a new cabin and a Runway Overrun Awareness and Alerting System. Aviation Week counted 388 delivered across the series by September 2022.

Not the aircraft for

Anyone who needs to stand, or a full cabin on its longest sectors. The 1,178 NM range assumes four occupants, so seven passengers means planning shorter legs, and the external baggage cannot be reached in flight. For longer legs with more people, the Phenom 300 is the better tool.

Missions

What the desk books it for

01

Small teams, one day

Club seating facing each other on sectors such as Rome to Paris (606 NM), well inside the range, with a belted lavatory at the back.

02

Europe to the islands

London to Mallorca is 719 NM, inside its published range with four aboard, and the 53 cubic foot rear compartment takes the weekend bags.

03

Across the Red Sea

Cairo to Jeddah is 657 NM, comfortably inside its range, with permits filed alongside the trip.

04

Dallas to Aspen

618 NM, well inside the range. The deciding check is runway performance at Aspen on the day, which the desk runs for the specific aircraft before it quotes.

Where it flies

Routes the desk flies on the Phenom 100

Sectors from our route guides that sit inside the Phenom 100's published range with four people aboard. Each opens to the flight time, the airports at both ends and what to know before you fly.

Cabin and baggage

Club seating, a belted lavatory, bags in the tail

Aviation Week gives the passenger cabin as 11 feet long, 5 feet 1 inch wide and 4 feet 11 inches tall. Embraer's brochure seats one crew and seven passengers, though the typical layout is four club seats, with a side-facing seat and a belted lavatory adding flexibility.

Baggage and stowage total 64 cubic feet on the Phenom 100EX: a 53 cubic foot rear compartment, a 7 cubic foot nose compartment and the rest in cabin stowage. The external compartments are not accessible in flight, so keep what you need for the journey in the cabin.

Tell the desk about golf bags, skis or equipment cases when you enquire, because with a full cabin the bags decide the trip as much as the headcount.

Performance and airports

Runways, altitude and the airports it opens

Embraer publishes a takeoff distance of 3,190 feet for the Phenom 100EX at maximum weight at sea level on a standard day, and an unfactored landing distance of 2,430 feet with four occupants. It is certified to 41,000 feet, with a high-speed cruise of 406 knots.

Those figures suit executive airports on the routes the desk flies, including Teterboro, Dallas Love Field and Biggin Hill.

High and hot fields change the answer. At Aspen, the runway length available on the day depends on elevation, temperature and weight, and London City requires a type and crew approved for its steep approach. The desk checks both for the specific aircraft before a quote goes out.

Compare the class

Phenom 100 against the other very light jets

How the Phenom 100 lines up against the other very light jets we cover. The HondaJet flies a little further and faster with a similar hold, and the Eclipse 500 uses less runway; the Phenom 100's case is more seats than either and a layout that flexes from four to seven.

Chartering with Icarus Jet

How we charter the Phenom 100

We source Phenom 100s from ARGUS-audited and Wyvern-certified operators, and the operator's name and audit status are on the quote. The desk checks range against the real routing and seats and bags against the real party before it checks availability, and tells you which variant is offered, so the aircraft is one that genuinely fits the trip.

Quotes are all-in and itemised: aircraft and crew, positioning, landing and handling, fuel and taxes, with nothing added after the flight that was not on the page. The figure depends on where the nearest suitable aircraft is based, the dates and the airports, which is why we price your actual trip rather than publish a rate.

Questions

Phenom 100 questions the desk gets

How far can a Phenom 100 fly nonstop?

Embraer publishes 1,178 NM for the Phenom 100EX with four occupants at long-range cruise on NBAA IFR reserves with a 100 NM alternate. That covers London to Mallorca or Cairo to Jeddah. Earlier aircraft differ slightly, and the desk plans each leg against winds, temperature and weight on the day.

How many passengers does a Phenom 100 seat?

Embraer's brochure seats up to seven passengers with one crew, using a side-facing seat and the belted lavatory. The typical layout is four club seats, and the published range assumes four occupants, so larger parties mean shorter legs.

Can you stand up in the cabin?

No. The cabin is 4 feet 11 inches tall and 5 feet 1 inch wide, so passengers sit for the flight. For a stand-up cabin, the desk will quote an aircraft such as the Citation XLS.

How much luggage fits on a Phenom 100?

The Phenom 100EX has 64 cubic feet of baggage and stowage: 53 cubic feet in the rear compartment, 7 in the nose and the rest in the cabin. The external compartments cannot be reached in flight. Tell the desk about bulky items when you enquire.

What is the difference between the Phenom 100, 100E, 100EV and 100EX?

They are updates of the same aircraft. The 100E (2014) added multifunction spoilers and interior options, the 100EV added Prodigy Touch avionics and PW617F1-E engines, and the 100EX (delivered from December 2023) added a new cabin, weight savings and runway overrun alerting. The desk will tell you which one is available for your dates.

Does the Phenom 100 need two pilots?

It is certified for single-pilot operation, with up to eight occupants including the pilot. It has two Pratt & Whitney Canada engines, PW617F1-E on the current 100EX.

How fast is the Phenom 100?

The Phenom 100EX has a high-speed cruise of 406 knots and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.70, and it is certified to 41,000 feet. Business Jet Traveler lists 390 knots maximum cruise for the original Phenom 100.
