The route
Why fly private from Dallas to Cancún?
Dallas to Cancún is the beach sector on our desk: 886 nautical miles, a little over two hours in the air, and a landing at the airport that handles more private traffic than any in Mexico outside the capital. Cancún is the gateway to the whole mainland coast, from the hotel zone through Playa del Carmen to Tulum, and the Dallas desk flies it every week of the year.
Why private works here
Leave Love Field, five miles from downtown Dallas, and land at Cancún, where a private arrival clears through the general aviation terminal, separately from the airline halls, with customs and immigration meeting the aircraft. The hotel zone is 20 to 30 minutes away and the car is waiting. No airline queue at either end, the family travels together with the luggage it wants, and the return leaves when the holiday ends rather than when the timetable says.
Aircraft fit
At this distance a light jet flies it nonstop with six or seven aboard and carry-on baggage. A midsize jet carries eight with full luggage and a stand-up cabin, which for a beach week is usually the right answer. A super-midsize jet takes eight or nine faster and quieter with room for the golf bags. Larger parties go on a heavy jet, and for the southern Riviera the desk can add the helicopter transfer from Cancún that saves the drive to Tulum.
Advisor note
Mexico is a permits market. Every foreign charter into Cancún needs an AFAC permit, and we plan the Blanket Permit at ten business days. It is routine and we file it on every trip, but it is the one thing on this sector that cannot be fixed the day before. Give the desk your dates early and the permit is never the reason a trip waits.

What determines the cost of a Dallas to Cancún private jet charter?
A two-hour international sector is priced on the aircraft, the trip shape, the permit and handling, and the dates. These are the things that move the number on Dallas to Cancún.
Aircraft class
Light, midsize and super-midsize jets all fly it nonstop. The cabin you choose is the biggest single swing in the quote, and for a family with beach luggage the midsize is usually the better value per seat.
Round trip or two one-ways
A long weekend keeps the aircraft with you or brings it back for you. A week away is often better as two one-way flights. The desk prices both and tells you which is cleaner.
Permit and handling
The AFAC permit, the general aviation terminal fees and the FBO handling are part of every Cancún quote. We tell you what they cover before you book, and we file the permit ourselves.
The season
December to April is the dry season and the peak, with Christmas and New Year the tightest weeks of the year for aircraft out of Dallas and ramp space at Cancún. Those dates need firm bookings weeks ahead.
Ground transfer
The hotel zone is 20 to 30 minutes, Playa del Carmen about 45 and Tulum about an hour and a half by road. For the southern Riviera a helicopter transfer from Cancún is common, and we price it alongside the flight.
What the number covers
We tell you what the quote covers before you book and we hold the operator to the number we gave you. No surprises on the invoice is the point of using the Dallas desk.
Aircraft
Which aircraft flies Dallas to Cancún?
Every jet class in the Icarus brokered fleet flies this sector. These are the three quoted most on Dallas to Cancún.
Phenom 300 and Citation CJ class
Six or seven passengers with carry-on baggage. Nonstop both ways, and the right money for a couple or a small group travelling light.
Citation XLS and Hawker 800 class
Eight passengers with full luggage, a stand-up cabin and an enclosed lavatory. The usual answer for a family beach week.
Challenger 350 and Citation Longitude class
Eight or nine in a wider, quieter cabin with baggage room for golf bags, and the fastest of the three on the sector.
Larger groups go on a heavy jet. See the jets we broker for the full range by cabin class.
Before you fly
What should I know before flying Dallas to Cancún?
It is an international flight, so bring passports for everyone aboard. The desk files the passenger manifest with US Customs and Border Protection before departure and confirms each passenger's entry requirements for Mexico. On the way home you clear customs at Love Field, which has it on site.
Cancún clears private arrivals through its own terminal. Customs and immigration officers meet the aircraft at the general aviation terminal, away from the airline halls. Mexican customs has its own baggage declaration and inspection procedure, and our Cancún customs guide walks through what to expect so nothing at the aircraft is a surprise.
The airport itself is not the constraint. Two parallel runways, the main one 11,483 feet, at 37 feet elevation with Category 9 fire cover, open 24 hours. It is 16 kilometres south west of the hotel zone. The Riviera Maya runs south from there: Playa del Carmen about 45 minutes and Tulum about an hour and a half, or a short helicopter transfer.
On the Dallas side, Love Field is five miles from downtown, our home field, and clears customs on the return. Addison is the north Dallas choice with three FBOs open around the clock. Dallas Executive is the quiet option six miles southwest of downtown. DFW carries landing fees and airline traffic and is rarely the right answer for this trip.
Cancún keeps its own clock. Quintana Roo is on Eastern Standard Time all year and does not observe daylight saving, so it matches Dallas in summer and sits an hour ahead in winter. If you are weighing the Caribbean against the Pacific, our Cancún versus Cabo comparison from Dallas is the short version of the conversation we have every week.
When to go
When is the best time to fly Dallas to Cancún?
December to April is the dry season and the peak, with a second spike at Christmas and New Year when the same aircraft are wanted in several cities at once and Cancún ramp space is at its tightest. For those weeks, give the desk firm dates a few weeks ahead so the permit, the aircraft and the parking are all confirmed.
The rest of the year books comfortably. Allow the ten business days for the AFAC permit on a first trip; after that, a few days of notice is normal from Dallas and the desk often manages less. Summer and autumn are warmer and wetter, and a morning departure lands you at the pool by early afternoon either way.
