The route

Why fly private from Dallas to Las Vegas?

Dallas to Las Vegas is the most requested leisure sector out of our home market: 925 nautical miles, about two and a half hours in the air, and a landing at Harry Reid five miles from downtown and minutes from the Strip. Fight weekends, conventions, golf and the Rodeo all fly it, and each of those changes what the trip needs.

Why private works here

Leave Love Field, five miles from downtown Dallas, and land at Harry Reid, where the FBO car is at the aircraft and the Strip is a short drive. No airline queue at either end, the group travels together, and the return leaves when the weekend ends rather than when the timetable says. Two hours of time zone go in your favour on the way out, so a morning departure from Dallas is a late-morning arrival in Las Vegas.

Aircraft fit

At this distance a light jet flies it nonstop with six or seven aboard, though a westbound winter headwind can add twenty minutes and, on the smallest types, a fuel stop; the desk checks this on the day. A midsize jet carries eight with full luggage and a stand-up cabin. A super-midsize jet takes eight or nine faster and quieter, and is the usual choice for a group with golf bags. Larger parties go on a heavy jet or one of the regional jets we broker, which is how the bigger Dallas fight-weekend groups travel.

Advisor note

On Las Vegas the first thing we check is not the aircraft, it is ramp parking. Harry Reid has four runways and no shortage of pavement, but two FBOs and very limited parking, and around a major convention that is the whole conversation. We confirm the parking before we confirm the aircraft, and we will tell you if Henderson is the smarter field for your dates.

Cost

What determines the cost of a Dallas to Las Vegas private jet charter?

A two-and-a-half-hour sector is priced on the aircraft, the trip shape and, more than anywhere else we fly, the calendar. These are the things that move the number on Dallas to Las Vegas.

01

Aircraft class

Light, midsize and super-midsize jets all fly it. The cabin you choose is the biggest single swing in the quote, and for a group with luggage the super-midsize is usually the better value per seat.

02

The calendar

CES in the first week of January, the National Finals Rodeo in the first full week of December, the Grand Prix in November and the big fight weekends fill Las Vegas ramps from across the country. Those dates need firm bookings weeks ahead and can carry event parking charges.

03

Round trip or two one-ways

A weekend keeps the aircraft with you or brings it back for you. A longer stay is sometimes better as two one-way flights. The desk prices both and tells you which is cleaner.

04

Parking and the field

Harry Reid parking is limited and needs prior permission around events. Henderson Executive, with a 6,501 foot runway, is the alternative when the main field is full. The choice affects both the quote and your drive.

05

Timing

Harry Reid has a turbojet curfew from 2000 to 0800 on two of its four runways. Late departures still work; they use the other runways and the desk plans them that way.

06

What the number covers

We tell you what the quote covers before you book and we hold the operator to the number we gave you. No surprises on the invoice is the point of using the Dallas desk.

Before you fly

What should I know before flying Dallas to Las Vegas?

It is a domestic flight, so there is no customs at either end. Bring photo ID; the crew checks it at the aircraft. You can arrive at the FBO ten to fifteen minutes before departure.

Harry Reid is the Las Vegas arrival. Five miles from downtown, four runways with the longest at 14,835 feet, two FBOs, and an airport that was McCarran for decades, so you will still see the old name. Parking is the constraint, not the runway: around a major convention the ramp fills, and prior permission is required for event parking. Henderson Executive is the alternative the desk uses when it does.

Two of the four runways have a turbojet curfew from 2000 to 0800. It does not stop a late departure; it changes which runway you use, and the desk plans for it.

On the Dallas side, Love Field is five miles from downtown and our home field. Addison is the north Dallas choice with three FBOs open around the clock. Dallas Executive is the quiet option six miles southwest of downtown. DFW carries landing fees and airline traffic and is rarely the right answer for this trip.

You gain two hours on the way there and lose them coming back. Dallas is on Central time and Las Vegas on Pacific. In summer, Harry Reid sits at 2,183 feet and afternoon heat raises the density altitude, which the desk allows for when it plans a fully loaded departure.

When to go

When is the best time to fly Dallas to Las Vegas?

Las Vegas has no off season; it has convention weeks and everything else. The dates that fill the ramps and tighten aircraft across the West are CES in the first week of January, the National Finals Rodeo over ten days in the first full week of December, the Grand Prix in November, and the big fight weekends through the year. For any of those, give the desk firm dates a few weeks ahead so the parking and the aircraft are both confirmed.

Outside those weeks, two or three days of notice is normal from Dallas and same-day is often possible for a light or midsize jet. Summer afternoons are hot and high at Harry Reid; the desk plans departure times and loads around it.
