Shively Field is the Saratoga arrival. A single 8,801 foot runway at about 7,000 feet elevation, minutes from the town and the ranches along the North Platte. On the Dallas side, Love Field is five miles from downtown and our home field. Addison is the north Dallas choice with three FBOs open around the clock. Dallas Executive is the quiet option six miles southwest of downtown. DFW carries landing fees and airline traffic and is rarely the right answer for this trip.
You gain an hour on the way there and lose it coming back. Dallas is on Central time and Wyoming on Mountain. A morning departure from Love Field is at the lodge for lunch, and the desk plans the return for the morning when the air is cool and the runway performs best.
When to go
