Dallas to Houston
Private Jet Charter
Dallas to Houston is about 45 minutes to an hour in the air, 208 nautical miles from Love Field to Hobby, on a light or midsize jet. Both airports sit within minutes of their downtowns, so the whole trip is shorter than the drive to DFW. Houston to Dallas runs the same page, the other way.

The route
Why fly private from Dallas to Houston?
Dallas to Houston is the shortest sector Icarus flies from home, and the one where the airports decide the day more than the aircraft does. The 208 nautical mile leg is under an hour on anything with a jet engine, so the time you save comes from where you take off and where you land.
Why private works here
Love Field is five miles from downtown Dallas and Hobby is about seven miles from downtown Houston. Leave the office, board within minutes of arriving at the FBO, and you are in a Houston car before an airline passenger has cleared the DFW security line. The same trip on Interstate 45 is roughly four hours each way. Most of our Dallas to Houston flights are same-day returns: the aircraft waits, and the return is on your schedule rather than a timetable.
Aircraft fit
At this distance a turboprop, a light jet and a midsize jet all fly it nonstop with fuel to spare, so the choice is about the party and the baggage, not the range. Six people with carry-ons fit a light jet. Eight with luggage, or a group that wants to work face to face, is a midsize cabin. Larger groups go on a super-midsize or a regional jet, quoted on request.
Advisor note
The question we ask first on this sector is which side of Dallas you are leaving from. North Dallas is an Addison departure, downtown is Love Field. We set the airport pairing before we look at aircraft, because on a flight this short it is worth more minutes than the aircraft choice.
Icarus Jet charter desk, DallasCost
What determines the cost of a Dallas to Houston private jet charter?
A short sector is priced on the aircraft and the day, not the miles. These are the five things that move the number, in the order they usually matter on this route.
Aircraft class
A turboprop, a light jet and a midsize jet all fly it. Cabin size drives the biggest single swing, and on a flight this short the difference in time between them is minutes.
Same day return or one way
A same-day return keeps the aircraft and crew with you for the day. A one-way flight can carry a repositioning charge depending on where the aircraft is based; Dallas is our home market, so the desk will tell you which option is cleaner for your dates.
Airport pairing
Handling and landing fees differ between Love Field, Addison and DFW on the Dallas side. We choose the departure field on your ground time first, and tell you what each end costs before you book.
Timing
Early departures and late returns can push the crew into a second duty day. Firm dates and a realistic return time keep the quote clean.
Season
The Houston Rodeo weeks in late February and March, the big Houston and Dallas sporting weekends, and the year-end holidays tighten availability across Texas. Book early for those dates.
What the number covers
We will tell you what the quote covers before you book and we hold the operator to the number we gave you. No surprises on the invoice is the point of using the Dallas desk.
Aircraft
Which aircraft flies Dallas to Houston?
Every class in the Icarus brokered fleet flies this sector nonstop. These are the three that get quoted most on Dallas to Houston.
King Air class
The quiet, practical choice for small parties who want the schedule benefit without a jet. About an hour block to block, and it uses every field on this page.
Phenom 300 and Citation CJ class
The most quoted aircraft on this route. Six or seven passengers, carry-on baggage, and the fastest door-to-door time of the three.
Citation XLS and Hawker class
Eight passengers with full luggage, a cabin you can stand in, and the option to work as a group on the way down. Same flight time as a light jet on a sector this short.
Groups of nine or more go on a super-midsize jet or one of the regional jets we broker. See the jets we broker for the full range by cabin class.
Before you fly
What should I know before flying Dallas to Houston?
It is a domestic flight, so there is no customs at either end. Bring photo ID; the crew checks it at the aircraft. You can arrive at the FBO ten to fifteen minutes before departure.
Hobby is the Houston arrival. It is about seven miles from downtown with two 7,602 foot runways, and it has been the city's general aviation airport since airline service moved to Bush Intercontinental in 1969. If your day is on another side of Houston, tell the desk and we will quote the field that suits it.
On the Dallas side, Love Field is five miles from downtown and our home field. Addison is the north Dallas choice with three FBOs open around the clock. Dallas Executive is the quiet option six miles southwest of downtown. DFW carries landing fees and airline traffic and is rarely the right answer for this trip.
Both cities are on Central time, so the schedule reads the same at both ends. Houston summer thunderstorms and the June to November hurricane season can delay arrivals; the desk watches the weather on the day and moves the departure rather than letting you sit at the FBO.
When to go
When is the best time to fly Dallas to Houston?
This is a year-round business sector with no quiet season. The dates that tighten aircraft availability across Texas are the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in late February and March, the big sporting weekends in either city, and the week between Christmas and New Year. For those, give the desk firm dates a few weeks ahead and you will have the aircraft you want rather than the one that is left.
For an ordinary weekday, two or three days of notice is normal on this route, and same-day is often possible from Dallas. Tell us the return time you actually need, not the one you hope for; the crew day is planned around it.

Questions
Dallas to Houston private jet questions
How long is a private jet flight from Dallas to Houston?
About 45 minutes to an hour in the air. The sector is 208 nautical miles from Love Field to Hobby, so a light or midsize jet is airborne for roughly 45 minutes and a turboprop for about an hour. Door to door, with a Love Field departure and a Hobby arrival, most trips run under two hours from office to office.
How far is Dallas from Houston by air?
208 nautical miles, about 239 statute miles, between Dallas Love Field and Houston Hobby. The road distance on Interstate 45 is close to 240 miles and takes roughly four hours.
Which Dallas airport do private jets use for Houston?
Dallas Love Field, five miles from downtown, is the usual departure and our home field. Addison suits north Dallas with three FBOs open 24 hours. Dallas Executive is the quiet option southwest of downtown. DFW is only worth using if you are connecting to an airline flight there, because it carries landing fees and airline traffic.
Which Houston airport do private jets land at?
Hobby, about seven miles from downtown with two 7,602 foot runways. It has been Houston's general aviation airport since airline service moved to Bush Intercontinental in 1969. Other Houston fields are quoted on request when your day is on another side of the city.
Which aircraft is best for Dallas to Houston?
Any class flies it nonstop, so choose on the party and the baggage. A light jet such as a Phenom 300 or Citation CJ carries six or seven with carry-ons and is the most quoted aircraft on the route. A midsize jet such as a Citation XLS or Hawker takes eight with full luggage and a stand-up cabin. A King Air turboprop is the practical choice for small parties. Larger groups go on a super-midsize or regional jet.
What determines the cost of a Dallas to Houston private jet?
The aircraft class, whether it is a same-day return or a one-way, the airport pairing at each end, the departure and return times, and the season. On a sector this short the miles matter less than the day: a same-day return keeps the aircraft with you, and Rodeo weeks or holiday dates tighten availability. We tell you what the quote covers before you book.
Can I fly Houston to Dallas on the same page?
Yes. The sector is quoted in both directions and most trips are same-day returns, so the aircraft that takes you down brings you back. Put Houston as the departure in the form and the desk handles it the same way.
Is there customs or security on a Dallas to Houston private flight?
No customs, it is a domestic flight. There is no security line either; you arrive at the FBO ten to fifteen minutes before departure, the crew checks photo ID at the aircraft, and you board.
How much notice do I need to book Dallas to Houston?
Two or three days is normal and same-day departures from Dallas are often possible, because this is our home market. For the Houston Rodeo weeks in late February and March, big sporting weekends and the year-end holidays, give the desk firm dates a few weeks ahead.
Can I bring pets and luggage on the flight?
Pets ride in the cabin on most aircraft; tell the desk at enquiry so the operator confirms the aircraft. A light jet takes carry-on baggage for six; a midsize jet takes full luggage for eight. Golf bags and oversized items fit a midsize cabin comfortably.
What time zone are Dallas and Houston in?
Both are on Central time, so there is no time change on this route. Departure and arrival times read the same at both ends.
