Can a private jet fly internationally?

Yes, private jets can fly to virtually any destination worldwide. Icarus Jet arranges international private jet charters across 3,000+ airports globally, including smaller regional airports and private FBO terminals not accessible to commercial airlines. Our ARGUS-registered team manages all overflight permits, landing rights, and customs clearance, ensuring your international flight operates smoothly from departure to arrival.....Read More

How do I charter a private jet?

Chartering a private jet takes four steps: share the trip, receive a quote, confirm the aircraft, and fly. You tell us the route, dates and passenger numbers; we return an all-in quote within 60 minutes naming the operator and aircraft.

The quote should be fully itemised - aircraft, ground handling, catering, permits and fuel - so you can see what you are paying for. Once you approve it, we confirm the aircraft, file the flight plan, arrange permits and handling at both ends, and send the departure details including the FBO terminal.

Notice periods are shorter than most people expect: four to six hours for domestic flights and 24 to 48 hours for most international routes, the difference being permit processing rather than aircraft availability. Peak periods such as European summer and major sporting events need considerably more, because the constraint becomes airport slots and parking.

What are the different types of private jets I can charter?

Icarus Jet provides access to the full range of private jet categories. Very light jets seat 4-5 passengers and are ideal for short domestic routes. Light jets seat 6-7 passengers for regional travel. Midsize and super-midsize jets seat 7-9 passengers for transcontinental routes. Large cabin and ultra-long-range heavy jets seat 10-16 passengers for intercontinental travel. Our team recommends the right aircraft for your route, group size, and budget, with options from Citation, Phenom, Gulfstream, Challenger, and Bombardier Global series....Read More

How much luggage can I bring on a private jet charter?

Luggage allowances vary by aircraft size. Very light jets typically accommodate one bag per passenger, midsize jets allow two bags per passenger, and large cabin heavy jets can carry significantly more including oversized items and sports equipment. Icarus Jet confirms exact luggage capacity for your specific aircraft at the time of booking, ensuring your baggage requirements are met before departure. ...Read More

What in-flight services do private jets offer?

Private jet in-flight services vary by aircraft size and can be fully customised through Icarus Jet. Midsize jets and above can accommodate a dedicated flight attendant. Large cabin jets offer full catering, sleeping facilities, and entertainment systems. All aircraft can be configured with custom menus, preferred beverages, specific newspapers and reading materials, and any special requests, arranged by our concierge team in advance of your flight....Read More

When should I book a private jet charter?

Icarus Jet can arrange on-demand private jet charters with as little as 4-6 hours notice for domestic routes and 24-48 hours for most international flights. For peak travel periods, summer in Europe, major holidays, or large events, we recommend booking 2-4 weeks in advance to secure your preferred aircraft type and slot. Contact our 24/7 team for immediate availability on any route.....Read More

How much does it cost to charter a private jet?

Private jet charter is priced by the flight hour, and the rate depends on the aircraft category, the route and how much repositioning the trip needs. Our private jet charter cost guide sets out the current hourly ranges for each aircraft category, along with worked examples for typical routes.

The main factors that move a quote are aircraft type, route distance, repositioning, airport and handling fees, and crew duty limits on longer trips. Peak dates move prices too, because availability tightens rather than because the rate itself changes.

Every Icarus Jet quote is itemised, so you can see the aircraft cost, ground handling, catering, permits and fuel separately rather than as one figure. Send us the route and dates and you will have an all-in quote within 60 minutes.

What are empty leg flights and how can I book one?

Empty leg flights occur when a private jet needs to reposition after dropping off a client, flying back to its home base or to the next pickup location without passengers. Icarus Jet regularly sources empty leg availability on popular routes, offering discounts of 50-75% off standard charter rates. Contact our team with your preferred route and dates and we will match you with available empty legs, ideal for flexible travellers on a budget....Read More

What are floating fleets and how do they save money?

Floating fleets are networks of identical aircraft operated across multiple locations, allowing operators to swap crew and optimise positioning without repositioning costs. This model reduces charter pricing by up to 60% compared to standard rates. Icarus Jet has access to floating fleet operators across North America and Europe, making them an excellent cost-efficient option for frequent domestic travellers with flexible schedules....Read More

Are there any hidden fees in private jet charter?

No, Icarus Jet operates with complete pricing transparency. Every quote is fully itemised including aircraft costs, ground handling, catering, permits, and fuel surcharges. We charge 0% markup on ground handling and clearly outline all fees before you confirm your booking. There are no membership fees, no long-term commitments, and no surprise charges on your final invoice.

Are private jets safe?

Yes, private jet travel is one of the safest forms of air travel when arranged through an ARGUS-registered broker like Icarus Jet. Every operator in our network is ARGUS-audited or Wyvern-certified, the two highest safety benchmarks in private aviation. Our pilots average 8,000+ flight hours and every aircraft undergoes mandatory pre-flight inspections. Icarus Jet has maintained a 100% safety record across 5,259+ completed flights over 15 years of operations....Read More

What does ARGUS-registered mean?

ARGUS International is an independent auditor that rates charter operators on their safety record, pilot experience, maintenance programme and operational history. An ARGUS rating is not self-declared - it is issued by a third party after an audit.

Icarus Jet is an ARGUS-registered broker, and every operator we place clients on holds an ARGUS audit rating or Wyvern certification. In practice that means an operator's safety history has been examined by someone with no commercial interest in the answer before the aircraft is offered to you.

It matters because the charter market has no single global safety standard. Two operators can both be legally certified and still differ substantially in pilot experience requirements and maintenance practice. Independent audit is the mechanism that surfaces that difference. We are also accredited by NBAA and EBAA, the US and European business aviation associations.

What airports can I use for a private jet charter?

Countries are dotted with far more regional airports than commercial ones. Without worrying about the extensive security measures niche to commercial clearance, regional airports offer easier jet control to pilots owing to their smaller sizes. Additionally, they are commonly located within desirable proximity to passenger destinations....Read More

What is the difference between a private jet charter broker and an operator?

An operator holds the air carrier certificate and physically flies the aircraft. A broker, like Icarus Jet, arranges the flight on aircraft operated by third parties. The practical difference for you is choice: an operator can only sell you the aircraft it owns, while a broker sources from the whole market and matches the aircraft to the mission.

The trade-off is that a broker is only as good as its vetting. That is where the safety question actually sits. Every operator we place clients on is ARGUS-audited or Wyvern-certified, and we are an ARGUS-registered broker accredited by NBAA and EBAA.

Ask any broker two questions: which operator is actually flying the aircraft, and what is that operator's audit status. A broker who cannot answer both immediately is not doing the job you are paying them for. We name the operator on every quote.

Can a Gulfstream G650 land at airports with weight restrictions?

With a maximum take-off mass exceeding 50 tons, the Gulfstream G650 is a large private jet. Even though it serves the pinnacle of corporate aviation, several airstrips cannot accommodate this legendary plane. Usually, the restriction set for aircraft starts at 50 tons or 45,500 kgs. However, some stations allow landings under a few conditions. ...Read More

What does international trip support include?

Icarus Jet's international trip support covers every operational detail of your flight, overflight permits, landing rights, US customs clearance, eAPIS filing, VIP terminal access, ground handling, in-flight catering, crew accommodation, and ground transportation. What does AOG mean in aviation?

AOG stands for aircraft on ground: an aircraft that cannot fly until a technical problem is fixed. It is aviation's highest-priority maintenance category, because every hour the aircraft sits unserviceable costs money and strands passengers.

An AOG event triggers a specific sequence. The fault is diagnosed, parts are located and moved to the aircraft, an approved engineer carries out the repair, and the aircraft is released back to service with the paperwork to prove it. The delay is almost never the repair itself - it is finding the part and getting a certified engineer to a location that may not have one.

For operators away from base this is where trip support matters. Icarus Jet coordinates AOG response through our global handling network: sourcing parts, arranging engineer access, and managing passenger re-routing while the aircraft is out of service.

Where do private jets land, and can they land anywhere?

Private jets land at around 3,000 airports worldwide, roughly ten times the number served by scheduled airlines. They cannot, however, land anywhere. Every airport has a runway length, weight and approach-equipment requirement, and the aircraft has to meet all three.

In practice this works in your favour. Because business jets can use regional and executive airfields that airlines ignore, you can usually depart and arrive far closer to where you actually need to be, through a private FBO terminal rather than a main passenger hall.

The limits matter most at the extremes. Short runways at altitude, mountain strips and weight-restricted island airfields rule out larger aircraft entirely, which is why the airport often decides the aircraft rather than the other way round. Tell us both ends of the trip and we will confirm which aircraft can actually operate the route.

How does Icarus Jet protect passenger privacy on international flights?

Icarus Jet employs mandatory VPN encryption on all trip communications, protecting passenger manifests, flight plans, and personal data from third-party access. For UHNW clients and corporate executives, we offer enhanced privacy protocols including discreet ground handling at select FBO facilities worldwide and anonymous booking arrangements on request. Privacy and discretion are a core part of every Icarus Jet trip.

What are Icarus Jet Crew Rewards and how do they work?

The Icarus Jet Crew Rewards programme generates a $50 reward for each pilot on every trip where Icarus Jet trip support and Jet A fuel are purchased. Rewards accumulate and are credited to your account within 3 business days of reaching the $200 threshold, equivalent to 4 single-pilot trips. Icarus Jet Crew Rewards never expire, making them an excellent long-term benefit for frequent operators within our network.. ...Read More

How does Icarus Jet reduce aircraft operating costs?
Icarus Jet reduces aircraft operating costs through three key mechanisms, bulk fuel purchasing that saves owners up to 7% annually on jet fuel, 0% markup on ground handling costs across our global network, and digital expense management that eliminates billing inefficiencies. Owners can also generate revenue by placing their aircraft on the charter market when not in personal use, directly offsetting annual management and operating costs.
Can I charter out my aircraft through Icarus Jet's management programme?

Yes, Icarus Jet offers charter revenue management as part of our aircraft management programme. When your aircraft is not in personal use, we can place it on the private charter market through our broker network, generating revenue that offsets your annual operating costs. All charter operations under our management meet the same ARGUS safety standards, and you retain full control over availability and scheduling.

Can Icarus Jet manage my aircraft if it is based outside the United States?

Yes, Icarus Jet provides full aircraft management services for aircraft based anywhere in the world. With operational offices in Dallas, Dubai, London, Athens, Cairo, and Nairobi, our team covers all major aviation regions including North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, managing all local regulatory requirements, permits, crew, and handling arrangements in each region.

Why should I choose Icarus Jet over other private jet charter brokers?

How does Icarus Jet compare to NetJets or VistaJet?

NetJets and VistaJet are fractional ownership and jet card programmes requiring long-term financial commitments, membership fees, and fixed annual hour purchases. Icarus Jet is an on-demand private jet charter broker, you pay only for the flights you take, with no contracts, no membership fees, and no unused hour penalties. This gives you maximum flexibility, access to a wider range of aircraft types globally, and full cost transparency on every trip.

What is a jet card, and is it cheaper than on-demand charter?

A jet card is a prepaid block of flight hours bought at a fixed hourly rate, usually starting with a deposit of $100,000 or more. Whether it is cheaper than on-demand charter depends almost entirely on how much you fly.

Cards make sense for predictable, frequent flying on similar routes. You lock a rate, skip the quoting step and get guaranteed availability with short notice. What you give up is flexibility: your capital is committed up front, the fixed rate applies to a defined aircraft category, and unused hours can expire.

On-demand charter reverses that. Nothing is committed, every trip is priced on the day, and the aircraft is matched to that specific mission rather than to the category you prepaid for. For most people flying fewer than about 25 hours a year, on demand works out better. Above that, the comparison is worth running properly - we will do it with your actual routes.

What are the airport and permit requirements for a private jet trip to Jordan?

A private flight into Jordan needs a landing permit, and overflight permits for any country crossed en route. Queen Alia International in Amman is the main handling point, with King Hussein International at Aqaba serving the south, and several other airfields taking private traffic.

Permit lead time is the constraint rather than aircraft availability. Applications need the aircraft registration, crew and passenger details and the full routing, so late changes to any of those can mean resubmitting. Regional airspace conditions can also change routings at short notice, which is why the flight plan is reviewed again close to departure.

Icarus Jet handles the permits, ground handling, fuel and customs arrangements as a single package through our trip support desk, and monitors the flight through our 24/7 flight watch service.

How long has Icarus Jet been operating?
