Figures are representative of the type; individual aircraft vary with configuration, load and conditions.
Where it fits
A tall, wide cabin that needs a long runway
The Gulfstream G200 has a cabin that is roomy for its class: six feet three inches tall and seven feet two inches wide. Gulfstream published a range of 3,400 NM with four passengers at Mach 0.75, enough for Los Angeles to Hawaii and Nairobi to Dubai with room to spare.
The trade-off is runway. It needs about 6,083 feet at maximum weight at sea level, long for the class, which can rule out shorter airports the other super midsize jets use. Baggage is generous at 150 cubic feet, most of it in an external hold.
Israel Aircraft Industries built it, first as the Galaxy, certified in December 1998, and it became the Gulfstream 200 in 2001. The last one rolled out in December 2011, the 250th built, and the G280 replaced it, so every G200 on charter was built by 2011 and the desk checks each aircraft's interior before it is offered.
Short runways, and parties above ten. At about 6,083 feet of takeoff distance at maximum weight, the G200 can be ruled out of airports the rest of the class uses, and its largest executive layout seats ten. For shorter runways with a similar party, the Legacy 500 is the better tool; for bigger groups, a large cabin aircraft such as the Gulfstream G450.
Missions
What the desk books it for
Long island sectors
Los Angeles to Hawaii is over 2,200 NM of open water, inside the G200's 3,400 NM range with four passengers. The desk checks the runway at both ends as carefully as the fuel.
Europe to the Middle East and Africa
London to Cairo, Cairo to Nairobi and Nairobi to Dubai each run around 1,900 NM, well within its range, with permits filed alongside the trip.
Room to move on a long leg
A cabin seven feet two inches wide with six feet three inches of headroom, for groups of eight to ten who want to stand, stretch and change seats on the way.
Trips heavy on luggage
150 cubic feet of baggage, 125 of it in the external hold, for family holidays and ski trips where the bags matter as much as the seats.
Where it flies
Routes the desk flies on the G200
Sectors from our route guides that sit inside the G200's range. Each opens to the flight time, the airports at both ends and what to know before you fly; the desk also checks each runway against the G200's takeoff distance.
Cabin and baggage
Six feet three tall, seven feet two wide
Gulfstream gives the cabin as 24 feet 5 inches long, 7 feet 2 inches wide and 6 feet 3 inches tall. Factory layouts seated eight, nine or ten passengers. The type certificate allows up to nineteen, but executive cabins are laid out for eight to ten.
An aft lavatory closes off from the cabin with a sliding door and has an externally serviced chemical toilet.
Baggage totals 150 cubic feet: 125 in an external compartment and 25 inside the cabin. Plan on only the internal space being reachable in flight, keep what you need on board in the cabin, and tell the desk about golf bags, skis or equipment cases when you enquire.
Performance and airports
Runway first, then the airports it opens
Gulfstream publishes a takeoff distance of 6,083 feet at maximum weight at sea level on a standard day, and a landing distance of 3,280 feet at maximum landing weight. The takeoff figure is long for the class and it is the number the desk checks first. It is certified to 45,000 feet.
Those figures work at the executive airports that matter on the routes the desk flies, including Teterboro, Dallas Love Field, Farnborough and Geneva.
Shorter and higher fields change the answer. At Aspen, the runway length available on the day depends on elevation, temperature and weight, and Biggin Hill and Lugano need checking against the G200's takeoff distance; London City requires a type and crew approved for its steep approach. The desk runs those checks for the specific aircraft and planned load before a quote goes out.
Compare the class
G200 against the other super midsize
How the G200 lines up against the other super midsize jets we cover. The Praetor 600 and Citation Longitude fly further, the Citation X flies faster and the Legacy 500 gets out of much shorter runways; the G200's case is a tall, wide cabin and 150 cubic feet of baggage.

Chartering with Icarus Jet
How we charter the G200
We source G200s from ARGUS-audited and Wyvern-certified operators, and the operator's name and audit status are on the quote. The desk checks the runway at both ends first, then range against the real routing and baggage against the real party, before it checks availability, so the aircraft offered is one that genuinely fits the trip.
Quotes are all-in and itemised: aircraft and crew, positioning, landing and handling, fuel and taxes, with nothing added after the flight that was not on the page. The figure depends on where the nearest suitable aircraft is based, the dates and the airports, which is why we price your actual trip instead of publishing a rate.
Questions
G200 questions the desk gets
How far can a G200 fly nonstop?
Gulfstream published 3,400 NM at Mach 0.75 with four passengers and two crew on NBAA IFR reserves. That covers Los Angeles to Hawaii and Nairobi to Dubai with room to spare. Winds, temperature, load and the runway at departure decide the real figure, and the desk plans each leg against them.
How many passengers does a G200 seat?
Eight to ten in the factory executive layouts. The type certificate allows up to nineteen, but executive cabins seat eight to ten, and the published range is quoted with four aboard.
Can you stand up in the cabin?
Yes. The cabin is 6 feet 3 inches tall, 7 feet 2 inches wide and 24 feet 5 inches long, roomy for the class, so most passengers stand upright and move about without stooping.
How much luggage fits on a G200?
150 cubic feet in total: 125 in the external hold and 25 inside the cabin. Plan on only the internal space being reachable in flight, and tell the desk about golf bags, skis or equipment cases when you enquire.
Is the Gulfstream G200 still in production?
No. The last G200 rolled out in December 2011, the 250th built, and the Gulfstream G280 replaced it. It began life as the Israel Aircraft Industries Galaxy, certified in 1998 and renamed the Gulfstream 200 in 2001.
What runway does a G200 need?
Gulfstream publishes 6,083 feet for takeoff at maximum weight at sea level on a standard day, and 3,280 feet to land. That is long for the class, so the desk checks the runway at both ends, with elevation, temperature and load, before it offers the aircraft.
How fast is the G200?
Normal cruise is Mach 0.80, about 459 knots, with a long-range cruise of Mach 0.75 and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.85. It is certified to 45,000 feet and flies on two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306A engines.
