Private Jet Charter
Eight airports serve London, and the one you pick decides your slot, your curfew and how long you sit in traffic afterwards. We broker the aircraft and run the trip support that goes with it, so the airport is chosen on operating grounds, by the desk that files the paperwork.

The City
Why charter a private jet to London
London is the busiest business aviation market in Europe, and it is also the one where the airport decision does the most work. The city is ringed by fields with very different rules: two dedicated business aviation airports, a military field that takes civil traffic on sufferance, a City airport with an approach that rules out much of the fleet, and two scheduled giants that will take you on their terms rather than yours.
We are a trip support operator as well as a charter broker, which means the permits, handling, fuel, slots and the GAR filing are arranged alongside the aircraft rather than handed back to you. On a London trip that is most of the work.
London is one of our three offices, at Berkeley Square in Mayfair, alongside Dallas and Dubai. The desk that answers a London enquiry is not working the city from a time zone away.
Where you actually land
Luton, Farnborough and Biggin Hill handle the majority of private charters into London. Each is built around business aviation, with its own terminal and a walk from car to aircraft measured in minutes. London City is closest to the financial district but restricts which aircraft can fly the approach.
What the airport choice decides
Slot availability, curfews, handling and summer parking pressure vary widely between the London fields, and any one of them can settle the question for you. We put the realistic options in front of you rather than defaulting to the nearest airport on the map.
What we handle on the ground
Permits, ground handling, fuel, slot coordination and the General Aviation Report required for UK arrivals and departures. The desk is staffed around the clock, which matters when a curfew or a slot moves.
Timing
When to fly to London
London is a year-round destination rather than a seasonal one, so the question is less about weather than about pressure on aircraft, slots and parking.
The busiest window, when European business aviation converges on London and aircraft parking at the London airports comes under real strain. Book earlier for more choice of aircraft and a better slot.
Steady business traffic with easier availability than high summer, and the clock change to British Summer Time falls in late March.
The easiest months for short-notice charter and aircraft choice. Winter weather is the variable to plan around rather than capacity.
Cost
What determines the cost of a flight to London
Sector length and aircraft class do most of the work, followed by passenger and baggage count, how late the booking is made, and whether the aircraft has to reposition to reach you. The airport itself then adds handling, parking and landing charges that differ across the London fields. Where those inputs pull against each other we say so before you book rather than after: if a nearer airport will cost you an hour on the road, or a smaller aircraft will not take the sector with your party and their bags, that is our call to make out loud. We sit on your side of the table with the operators and the handlers, and we hold them to the quote we gave you.

Airports
Where private jets land in London
Eight airports within reach of central London, and they are not interchangeable. The right one depends on your aircraft, your timing and which side of the city you are heading to.
London Luton · LTN · EGGW
Business aviationThe busiest business aviation airport for London and the default for most charters, with dedicated private terminals. Handling and parking charges are worth checking early: see our notes on Luton handling and parking fees and the airport itself.
Farnborough · FAB · EGLF
Business aviationBusiness aviation only, south west of the city, and often the smoothest arrival of the London options. Our Farnborough briefing covers the movement cap and when it bites, alongside the airport guide.
London Biggin Hill · BQH · EGKB
Business aviationA dedicated business aviation airport south east of the city, close to Kent and the south London approaches. See our Biggin Hill briefing and the airport guide.
London City · LCY · EGLC
ConditionalThe closest airport to Canary Wharf and the City, which makes it the fastest into the financial district. The steep approach restricts which aircraft and crews can operate there. More in our London City guide.
London Stansted · STN · EGSS
Business aviationNorth east of London with good business aviation handling and fewer slot constraints than the main scheduled airports. See the Stansted guide.
RAF Northolt · NHT · EGWU
ConditionalA military field in west London that accepts civil business aviation on a limited basis, with restricted movements and periodic closures. Our Northolt briefing and the airport guide cover the constraints.
London Gatwick · LGW · EGKK
ConditionalAccepts business aviation but is built around scheduled traffic, so slots and costs are the limiting factor rather than capability. See the Gatwick guide.
London Heathrow · LHR · EGLL
ConditionalPossible but rarely the practical choice for a private charter, for the reasons set out in our Heathrow briefing and the airport guide.
Denham (EGLD) also sits within the M25 but is a general aviation airfield and is not suitable for jet charter.

The Aircraft
The aircraft for the sector
London is reachable in every cabin class, and the sector length usually decides the answer before anything else does. Short European hops are light and mid-size work; transatlantic and Gulf sectors need heavy metal with the range to do it without a fuel stop.
Short European sectors
Paris, Amsterdam, Geneva, Milan and the other one to two hour sectors are comfortably flown by Very Light, Light and Mid-size jets. This is where the London business aviation airports earn their keep, because the ground time saved is a large share of the total journey.
Long-haul into London
Gulf and transatlantic sectors move you into Super-Midsize and Heavy Jets, chosen on range, cabin and payload rather than on price alone. Airport choice narrows too, since not every London field suits a heavy aircraft.
Choosing from the fleet
We are an ARGUS-registered broker, so the aircraft is picked from the market for the trip rather than from a fleet we happen to own. See our jet cabin classes for what each class does.

FAQ about private jet charter to London
How much is a private jet to London?
Published one-way estimates run from about $7,000 from Paris to $50,000 from Dubai. The number moves with your departure point, the aircraft class, the passenger count and how late you book. Our guide to what influences charter rates sets out the inputs.
Which London airport is best for a private jet?
For most charters it is Luton, Farnborough or Biggin Hill: all three are built around business aviation, with dedicated terminals and faster turnarounds than the scheduled airports. London City is the closest to the financial district but has a steep approach that restricts which aircraft can use it. See our guide to picking the right London airport.
Can a private jet land at Heathrow or Gatwick?
Both accept business aviation, but slot pressure and handling costs make them the least practical choice for most private charters. We set out the reasons in our briefings on flying into Heathrow and on Gatwick.
Are there night restrictions at London airports?
Yes. Several London airports operate night curfews and movement limits, and they differ by airport. Our briefing on UK night flight restrictions covers what applies where, and we plan departure and arrival slots around them.
What is a GAR and do I need one?
A General Aviation Report is the arrival and departure notification required for flights into and out of the UK. We file it as part of trip support. Our note on UK flight support and GAR costs explains the requirement and what it affects.
How long does it take to fly to London?
It depends on where you start. Short European sectors such as Paris or Amsterdam are the fastest, while a flight from California is estimated at just under 12 hours. The desk will confirm block time for your exact routing when it quotes.
What types of aircraft are available for charter in London?
Very Light Jets, Light Jets, Mid-size, Super-Midsize and Heavy Jets are all available into the London airports. The right class depends on your sector length, party size and which airport you are using. See our jet fleet for the cabin classes.
How far ahead should I book a private jet to London?
Short-notice charters are routine and we operate a 24/7 desk, but the summer months put real pressure on aircraft and parking at the London airports, so earlier booking gives you more choice of aircraft and a better slot.
What are the advantages of a private jet charter to London?
You choose the airport rather than the airline, which usually means a shorter drive at the London end and a far shorter time between the car and the aircraft. You also fly to your own schedule, which matters most on same-day return trips into the city.
Do you handle the ground arrangements as well as the aircraft?
Yes. Icarus Jet is a trip support operator as well as a charter broker, so permits, handling, fuel, slots and the GAR filing are arranged with the flight rather than left to you. Our trip support desk runs 24/7.
