The Service
What private jet charter covers
Private jet charter means renting an entire aircraft for your route and schedule rather than buying seats on someone else’s. You choose the departure time, the airport, and the cabin; the aircraft is yours for the trip. Icarus Jet is an ARGUS-registered broker, so we source from vetted operators worldwide rather than selling a single fleet, and every quote comes back within 60 minutes, all-in.
What is included when you charter a jet?
The aircraft and crew, fuel, landing and handling fees, catering, and applicable taxes for your routing. Positioning, crew overnights, and de-icing are itemised where they apply. From there our team handles the ground side: handling, catering, and permits on international legs through our trip support desk.
Choosing the cabin is the main decision. Our five aircraft categories run from very light jets for short regional hops to large-cabin aircraft flying intercontinental, and the right one depends on distance, passenger count, and luggage.
When does chartering make sense?
Charter earns its cost when the schedule matters more than the fare: multi-city days that airlines cannot cover, airports with no commercial service, group travel where per-seat pricing overtakes a whole aircraft, and time-critical trips where a missed connection is the real expense.
It also suits routes we fly constantly. Our empty leg flights can cut costs 30 to 75% when your dates are flexible, and group charters handle larger parties on airliner-type aircraft. For helicopters and island transfers, see helicopter charter.
Why Fly With A Broker
A Broker, Not An Operator, And Why That Protects You
Icarus Jet is an ARGUS-registered private jet charter broker, accredited by NBAA and EBAA. As a broker we do not push our own fleet: for every trip we source vetted Part 135 (or foreign equivalent) operators and present the aircraft that genuinely fits your mission, with full pricing transparency, 0% markup on ground handling and no membership fees or long-term commitments. You get the reach of 3,000+ airports and a 24/7 desk, with a firm, all-in quote within 60 minutes.

Cost & Booking
What does a private jet charter cost?
Charter pricing is driven by four factors: aircraft category, route distance, positioning, and season. Hourly rates typically range from $3,500 for a very light jet to $20,000+ for a large-cabin heavy jet. As reference points from our published routes, one-way flights run from about $19,000 for a short regional hop (Dubai to Muscat) to $57,000 for long-range island routings (Dubai to the Seychelles). Every Icarus Jet quote is built for the specific trip, all-in, with no hidden fees, and delivered within 60 minutes. See the full charter cost guide for detailed breakdowns.
Peak weeks move prices: expect premiums around the events and holiday windows flagged on each destination hub. Flying empty-leg or with flexible dates cuts costs significantly. For an instant ballpark on any city pair, use our trip cost estimator.

FAQ about private jet charter
How much does private jet charter cost?
Private jet charter costs typically range from $3,500 per hour for a very light jet to $20,000+ per hour for a large-cabin heavy jet. Key factors include aircraft type, route distance, repositioning, and handling costs. Every Icarus Jet quote is all-in with no hidden fees, delivered within 60 minutes.
How does booking a charter work?
Share your dates, passenger count, and preferences. We source vetted Part 135 (or foreign equivalent) operators, present tailored options, and manage the trip end to end, including ground handling, catering, and crew logistics.
Is chartering through a broker safe?
Icarus Jet is an ARGUS-registered broker and NBAA member, founded and run by active pilots. Every flight uses ARGUS-audited or Wyvern-certified operators, the two highest safety benchmarks in private aviation, and in 15 years and 5,259+ flights we have maintained a 100% safety record.
Can Icarus Jet support international trips?
Yes. Beyond charter, we run a full international trip support division covering permits, fuel, ground handling, and crew logistics, which is why crews and flight departments in over 30 countries rely on us.
How far in advance should I book a private jet?
We can arrange most charters with 24 to 48 hours notice, and same-day is often possible on well-served routes. For peak weeks in any destination, holidays, major events, ski season, booking 1 to 2 weeks ahead gets you better aircraft choice and pricing.
What are empty leg flights?
An empty leg is a repositioning flight, an aircraft flying without passengers to its next pickup. Booking one can cut charter costs by 30 to 75 percent if your dates and route line up. See our current empty leg offers.
Which airports do private jets use?
Usually dedicated business aviation airports closer to the city than the main hub: Dallas Love Field or Addison instead of DFW, Luton or Farnborough instead of Heathrow, Van Nuys instead of LAX. Each of our destination hubs lists the airports we recommend for that city and why.
How many passengers can a private jet carry?
Very light jets seat 2 to 4, light jets 5 to 8, midsize and super midsize 7 to 10, and large-cabin aircraft up to 16. For bigger groups we also arrange group charters on airliner-type aircraft.
Can I fly with pets on a private jet?
Yes, pets travel in the cabin with you on most charters. International routes need destination-specific paperwork, which our trip support team handles; entry rules vary by country, so tell us about your pet when you request the quote.
What is the difference between a charter broker and an operator?
An operator holds the air operator certificate and physically flies the aircraft; a broker sources and vets operators on your behalf, then manages the trip. Icarus Jet is an ARGUS-registered broker, which means we are not tied to one fleet and can match the right aircraft to each route rather than selling you whatever we happen to own. See our broker versus operator guide.
What is a jet card and how does it compare to on-demand charter?
A jet card is prepaid block hours at a fixed hourly rate, giving guaranteed availability and predictable pricing. On-demand charter is priced per trip and is usually cheaper if you fly infrequently or with flexible dates. Cards make sense above roughly 25 hours a year. See our jet card guide.
How quickly can Icarus Jet arrange a charter?
Most charters can be arranged with 24 to 48 hours notice, and same-day departures are often possible on well-served routes. Every quote is returned within 60 minutes, all-in with no hidden fees.
Is private jet charter safer than commercial flying?
Business aviation safety depends on the operator, not the aircraft class, which is why vetting matters more than anything else in the booking. Every flight Icarus Jet arranges uses ARGUS-audited or Wyvern-certified operators, the two highest independent safety benchmarks, and across 15 years and 5,259+ flights we have maintained a 100% safety record.
What is included in a private jet charter quote?
An all-in Icarus Jet quote covers the aircraft and crew, fuel, landing and handling fees, catering, and applicable taxes for the routing you asked for. Positioning flights, overnight crew costs, and de-icing are itemised where they apply, so nothing appears on the invoice that was not on the quote.
Can I charter a private jet one way?
Yes. One-way charters are common, though pricing depends on where the aircraft is based and where it needs to go next, since an empty repositioning leg may be charged. Matching your route to an aircraft already in position, or booking an empty leg, is usually the cheapest way to fly one way.
